Hey guys! I just want to clear something up because some people were commenting about one line in the video where I mentioned that my brother saw a documentary about Kate Bush. I wasn’t trying to compare her to Madonna or put them in the same league. I was literally just repeating something I heard.
I’m still learning about Kate Bush and this was my first ever reaction to her. Thanks for understanding and I hope you like my reaction!

it’s very simple the more Kate Bush you hear the more you want to hear

Madonna might have felt she was competing with Kate but I can guarantee Kate didn’t feel she was competing with Madonna.❤🎉😊

She is portraying the ghost of Cathy. Coming back from beyond  the grave , tapping on Heathcliffs  window.

This was Katie's first release her 2nd song released was The Man With the Child in His Eyes & she was 13 years old when she wrote that, Great song

Investigating the music of Kate Bush is like jumping into a creative rabbit hole and realising you've ended up in a different universe. I highly recommand it !

The great Kate Bush, she’s portraying the ghost of Cathy.  She’s a wonderful artist, so talented.  I like The child in his eyes and Babushka.

She wasnt even 19 when this was recorded. A once in a lifetime talent.

Kate Bush is one (the!?) of the greatest artist ever ❤
Timeless

She's the Ghost,  haunting Heathcliff outside the window

Kate Bush has long been recognized for her piano skills, have a look at Kate Bush - This Woman's Work - Official Music Video.

The video production is a master piece of itself.

She is a legend! 😍 To have read the book and then penned this song as a teenager is simply mindblowing.
More of her genius: "Cloudbusting" & "Running Up That Hill"

After all these years, this song still gives me chills! It is so hauntingly gorgeous, and Kate is the definition of Performance Art! No one has a voice like hers and the passion she brings into each lyric she sings is so real. Thanks for your reaction! You always do an awesome job!!!!

Kate is a genius.  No one is in her league; she’s unique.  There’s another version of the video where Kate wears red.  One day every year, people get together, dressed in red, and re-enact the video.

You can't go wrong reacting to Kate Bush, (with lyrics)she's so uniquely talented, and can do everything, writes her own songs , has done some of her videos and produces herself and has her own label. Of course she has an incredible voice with such a range. Kate is being the character Cathy's ghost from Wuthering Heights in the video.

Thank you very much for your brilliant reaction to a classic iconic song. David Gilmour did pay for Kate to record three songs professionally that he selected, by her late teens Kate had written about 200 songs. Of the three songs that selected, two of them "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" and "The Saxophone Song" ended up on Kate's debut album "The Kick Inside". David thinks the "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" was the song that sealed the deal with EMI. EMI signed Kate when she left and then put her on a two year retainer, Kate used the money to polish up her self-taught piano skills and take dance lessons with Lindsay Kemp, who had taught David Bowie to dance.

The timing of this request is very appropriate since Kate's birthday was on the 30th of July, a date she shares with the author of "Wuthering Heights" Emily Bronte.  Every year at around the time of Kate's birthday there's a worldwide event called "The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever", but more about that later.

Kate is deliberately singing using a very high register for most of song because at this stage in the novel, Cathy has returned to Heathcliff's house as a ghost, trying to be let in via a window. Kate's vocal performance is a single take with no edits, Kate said that she was channelling Cathy. The inspiration for the song occurred years earlier when Kate caught the tail end of a BBC adaptation of "Wuthering Heights" when Cathy was trying to get in. The idea stuck with her, before she started writing the song, she read some parts of book to get an idea of Cathy's character. Interestingly, after she wrote the song and when she had an opportunity to do so, she read the entire novel and was surprised to see some text from parts that she hadn't read originally had ended up in her lyrics.

EMI, wanted to release a different song as her debut single, but Kate fought for "Wuthering Heights", EMI did give in expecting that "Wuthering Heights" would be a flop, instead it turned into a worldwide smash hit, because it was so different and  unique compared to what else was in the charts.

What made it different? - the overall song structure which Kate described as circular meant that things didn't resolve. Also Kate used very unusual key changes which shouldn't work together but do, also added to the unresolved feelings, plus there are a number of timing changes during the song. Kate had no formal training in musical theory, she's an instinctive songwriter.

There are two versions of the music video version 1 "The White Dress version" was for the UK mainly, version 2 "The Red Dress version" is Kate dancing out in the open wearing a red dress, intended for other territories. In 2013 at a Brighton Fringe arts festival a group who wore red dresses danced to "Wuthering Heights" they duplicated all of Kate's dance moves. This became the inspiration for "The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever" which spread worldwide and only just occurred for this year, search for "The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever 2026" to see videos of events from around the world.

The success of "Wuthering Heights" meant that Kate was able to next release "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" as her second UK single.

Later I will post some suggestions for other Kate Bush songs, I'm sure that you will get plenty of suggestions in the meantime from other Kate Bush fans.

I love your reactions
You should react to Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush, Elton John stated that the song "Don’t Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush saved his life and helped him achieve sobriety. "This was one record that saved my life."

An absolutely complete artist who delivers on so many levels. Sophisticated and tasteful composition. As a performer she delivers stunning vocals, corporal expression and theatrics. In a league of her own

Be sure to react to Kate Bush "Babooshka". The lyrics provide a very intriguing storyline played to a very catchy song.
