i am a son of a Policeman, old school gentleman he was,  a loving man to all and very fair, i met lots of rouges who hated the Police but remembered my Dad and liked him a lot. I was raised with morals and principles, but now nearly fifty i'm not sure who are the criminals anymore in society, quite sad really. Very sad.

I vaguely remembered it, but not at the time, as 1983 was a very hard time for me, the Robbery came to to me sometime later, never knew much about it until watching this fine documentary.

So far, 2 documentaries a film and a miniseries have been made about this. It's definitely interesting.

The gold belonged to a bank called Johnson Matthey Bankers Limited who themselves were involved and investigated for financial criminal activities, villains stealing from villains.

The bank manager got a nice backhander .

This documentary is not from 1985, it was broadcast on May 13th 1987 on BBC1 at 2130hrs.

There is a brilliant series on the BBC about the Brinks Mat robbery called The Gold.
Well worth a watch.
