From freshly harvested potatoes to a crackling wood fire, follow a mother and son through a day of village life in Bamiyan, Afghanistan.

Their journey begins among green potato plants, where they gather the harvest before walking to a rushing river. Along the rocky bank, potatoes are peeled and vegetables are washed, with flowing water and rustling leaves setting the rhythm of the day.

Later, beneath the trees, a simple hearth of stacked stones becomes an outdoor kitchen. The mother carefully hollows the potato halves and finely chops chicken by hand, preparing the ingredients for chicken-and-vegetable stuffed potatoes. Nearby, her son helps with everyday tasks as the fire warms the cooking pot.

This first part follows the journey from the garden to the frying pan. In Part 2, the prepared filling goes into the potatoes, and the cooking continues over the wood fire.

Filmed in 4K with natural sounds and no narration, this documentary brings you closer to family life, traditional food preparation, and the quiet moments between each task.
