"And it was on that day, when a pilot named Russell Casse who went from a drunken crop duster, into a hero of Earth."

Just remember that this movie didn't have a sequel of any kind. It never happened. This is how it ended 😄

I honestly love the fact that the Great Pyramids at Giza survived. They've survived innumerable wars, disasters, and human errors, and now they've survived a literal alien apocalypse. The Indomitable Human Spirit, indeed

"Do me a favor tell my children I love them very much" - this line right here gets me everytime

I still remember seeing this at the cinema in 1996. That world will never exist again.

It's astonishing to me that there haven't been more Will Smith/Jeff Goldblum team-ups since this film. They've got great chemistry.

I love how Russell did that kamikaze attack on the ship, yet was a jokester right to the end. He was a man who made the ultimate sacrifice for man kind and did it with style. One of the most memorable scenes in the movie.

27 years later and this still brings goosebumps. Russell was a jokester and felt like he failed as a father but in the end, he showed how much he cared and made the ultimate sacrifice for mankind. One of America’s greatest underrated heroes. 🇺🇸

Can we all agree there is only ONE INDEPENDENCE DAY.

Russell's sacrifice was unforgettable, that SNK made a parody of it in the ending of Metal Slug 2 and Metal Slug X.

One of the most iconic self-sacrifices of 90s movies 😊

"HELLO BOYZ, IM BAAAAAACK"❤ one of the greatest movie lines in history!!

@nicklord7866 3 years ago

No one can deliver the line "Must go faster" like Jeff Goldblum!

5:46 I’ve watched this movie so many times over the years, but it wasn’t until a recent rewatch that I noticed the Aussies celebrating on top of a crashed alien fighter.

Imagine being kidnapped and probed or much more. Then being a pilot and returning the favor. So good!

@1A157 3 years ago

This film didn't need a sequel

@shaunhartin8540 3 years ago

That self sacrifice was the most bad ass move in cinema history

That last look at the picture of his children before he decides to go full kamakazi... Absolute legend 🤘

90's kids missing this kind of iconic scenes

What your father did was very brave, you should be proud of him.
I am.
Hearing those lines made me realize that Russell finally got the respect and credit he deserves.
