Drop In Ep. 28 | Bok Talk, URC & Bledisloe Cup

Ryan Grobler and Naas Botha are back for another episode of Drop In with plenty happening across the rugby world.

We touch on the Springboks following their loss to Australia.

We also look ahead to another big weekend of United Rugby Championship action, discussing the South African teams, key matchups, and what to watch.

Then attention turns to one of rugby’s great rivalries as New Zealand and Australia prepare for the Bledisloe Cup. Can the Wallabies continue building momentum, or will the All Blacks respond?

Bok talk, URC rugby, Bledisloe Cup and plenty of rugby debate, come Drop In with Naas & Ryan!

The team on Sunday was undercooked after not playing for a while, just like our A team was at Ellis Park during the RGR against NZ. With consecutive games, they became better. Even a warm up game against an Australian provincial side like NZ had here , would have held the Boks in better stead. I believe that a second game and even a third against Australia would have delivered different results as Rassie always comes up with something. Factoring in the travel and acclimatising made it just a bad day at the office. The players skills and the entire Bok ethos do not collapse overnight. Great chat as usual guys. Thanks.

Naas will remember the two tests against Hugo Porta's side in the eighties. Won the first test easily by about 30 points but then lost the second test. The side was quite settled from memory. A lot in rugby depends on attitude on the day.

Hello Naas and Ryan. I was very surprised by the Springbok defeat considering their elite strength-in-depth number of men. The final score flattered the Springboks, I think, and impressed the need to maintain discipline for the Wallabies. I was surprised also that eleven Wallabies hung on against a Springbok fifteen which included their impact bench reserves. These things happen, as you both know..

Great show guys, I think Rassies note book is filling up after the last few months games.

Naas knows rugby like few do.

About the tech and comms, I think it was Gary Gold who mentioned a simple solution, ie. use walkie talkies, keep things simple and not long stoppages during a match.

Howdy as the American's say, from south African dropping in

Great point Naas - if it can be established that in a tackle there is/was INTENT TO DO GRIEVOUS BODILY HARM - that should be severely dealt with - a straight red. I have gone so far as to say that a charge of assault should be laid against the offending player when it is out and out blatant!

A couple of guys who are "on the edge" in my opinion- Fassi, Reinach, Elrich Louw, Marco van Staden, Lood, Franco

Hi Naas & Ryan, as it has been mentioned not easy to get rugby into the Colkeges or Universities in the USA. Could touch rugby be introduced into the schools / colleges even if they use the Grid Iron rugby ball or touch rugby is played already.
Nats I hope you are teaching the guys to torpedo the ball into touch because our Bok players are still pussy footing the ball and not making touch

It is unfair to judge the players when the first team lost against the ABs in the first test. What makes us think that new team can win a game when our first team failed. We can only judge these players if there was a four text series against the Wallabies.

I don’t understand why Rassie is persevering with certain players when they are clearly not up to standard but can easily discard others like Evan Roos and Embrose Papier.
