Ace Combat 8 Has an Electrosphere Problem.

Ace Combat's timeline is further progressing into the realm of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, and that means we have to deal with events in the timeline written almost 30 years ago... or do we? In this video, I explain various issues that Ace Combat 8 will have to confront if it is to align itself with the events leading up to Ace Combat 3.

WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE COMMENTING. Because I keep seeing this mentioned - y'all need to understand that the events of the game itself is a simulation, not the timeline leading up to it. That's why I don't talk about anything that "happens" during Electrosphere, just the events that lead up to it. We KNOW that anything happening in 2040 isn't really happening, but we can't say that about other events.

Rebuild of Ace Combat 3: You Can (Not) Forget

AC8 is gonna end with all Ace Combat timelines converging into one, allowing us to have Ace Combat Infini- wait...

"We're not remaking Ace combat 3: electrosphere... by the way ace combat 9 is called electrosphere."

If there will be foreshadowing of Neucom and UPEO - I will fucking kneel and build Electrosphere shrine at home

I’m calling it now, the final boss Ace is going to be using a prototype Cradle (Coffin*) system developed off the back of the systems tested on Mihaly.

Enso’s logo looks like Ouroboros’ symbol. That is NOT a coincidence.

Ace combat 3: Nothing ever happens

My Crackpot theory is that AC8 will set up AC3's reintroduction with some name tweaks.

I feel like we'll get subtle nods to AC3 sprinkled throughout the story, but not too much

I wouldn't be too surprised if the easier to retcon parts of Electrosphere (changing acronyms to fit, wiggling history by a few years give or take) kinda get massaged into the shape of Strangereal's canon. As for the Electrosphere itself, the Lighthouse War DID just give us a reason to rethink the global communications paradigm. Plus iirc Neucom were a reasonably recent breakaway from General so you COULD push it back a little without hurting too much

if there's no reference to Ace Combat 3... then we can finally hope the next story will be in Verusa...

I don't mind them basically rebooting AC3 with new concepts/ideas that can fit with the strangereal timeline while also reusing some from electrosphere. Other franchises are already doing this anyway like with the final fantasy 7 remakes

The closer we get to 2040, the closer we get to a proper global release of Electrosphere. Aces, please

8:29 I think Ace Combat 3 is getting the Ace Combat 2 Treatment where they do a reboot to fit in the current timeline (Assault Horizon Legacy 2? I guess)

It is interesting though that Project Aces has some callbacks to AC3 in AC7 like you said with Martha and with Erich Jager’s father being one of Trigger’s wingman so I doubt they would ignore it completely but I’m with you that they’re gonna treat it as non canon.

If Electrosphere isn't canon anymore then that removes ace combat from the UGSF timeline as well. Meaning in two hundred years we won't get Ace Combat 37: Galaxian

I think we will have some of the lore Retconned, but still connect to AC3 nonetheless.

In one of the FAQ posts for AC8, on their official twitter, they explicitly stated that AC8 will connect the current timeline to AC3's timeline. So we WILL have stuff from AC3 for sure.

Again, probably some of the content might be tweaked and adapted, since lots of stuff from strangereal changed from 30 years of franchise, but it is safe to say we will most surely feel AC3's impact on the AC8.

Praying we get some AC3 love in AC8

I don't really see them just throwing out Ace 3 as a whole, especially since Project Aces has been more than willing to update some of the stories from older games to fit the new Strange(real)ness, like with Air Combat and Ace Combat 2 via Assault Horizon Legacy. What I wager is that Project Aces will do the same to an unknown extent with Ace Combat 8, especially since they already planted major seeds for such back in Ace Combat 7.
