In July 2026, a new lure fishing field opened in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Its name is "Lure Fishing Karizaka." A small, clear pond using spring water from Mount Fuji, it boasts a unique style of operating on a reservation-only basis with a maximum of five people. This time, TIMON pro staff member Daigo Sugiyama visited this new field. How does he interpret a new fishing spot, and how does he match his tackle? He also brought prototype lures under development and tested them against powerful, large rainbow trout.

Daigo Sugiyama:
He has been familiar with area fishing since elementary school and won the Meister title in junior high school. Inheriting the bloodline of a fishing thoroughbred, he is a true elite angler. His skill is undeniable, but his efforts to aim even higher are also impressive. In the 25th Trout King Championship in 2026, he achieved an unprecedented fourth Meister title. He is a top angler who truly represents the area trout fishing world. He is also adept at a wide range of other types of fishing.

Lure Fishing Karizaka

Opened on July 11, 2026, in Inokashira, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, this is a lure-only managed fishing area. It's a small, clear pond using spring water from Mt. Fuji, and operates on a reservation-only basis with a maximum of 5 people. Private group rentals are also available. In Pro Daigo's actual fishing trip, powerful rainbow trout averaging around 40cm showed a high response in water depths of approximately 1-1.5m. Because of the high density of fish and the presence of many large fish, it's recommended to use stronger line, hooks, and tackle than usual.
