Me 33 wanting to do this ..I always wanted to do it but I just would get discouraged, because I don't have any type of experience in that field what so ever.But caring for someone else is definitely something I want to do.But always those voices that say "I can't do it" "you'll be stuck in the food forever"..But may God open the doors that will give my the chance and opportunity to be a CNA

I challenged the Florida state exam. Took a one week prep course. Passed my tests n the first time. I was 37. I’m 40 now and looking into the LPN to RN route. I’m currently an OTR truck driver

I am a retired CNA now, but at the last facility I worked at, the last nurse I worked under had worked as a CNA in the past. Upon hearing that, I felt like she would be one to understand and be able to be very helpful towards me. She ended up being the exact opposite. She acted like CNA work was below her and she would make excuses as to why she could not help. She was a nasty person to have to work with. Constantly complaining about having to do her job and would stay stuck behind the Med Pass cart all day as a shield to avoid doing anything else.

She would yell and curse at you in front of patients. No one wanted to work with her. She seemed to want to coast through the day and would leave halfway through her shift without telling anyone before. That meant I would have to find a nurse on a different hall to ask questions and get help when I needed it.

I am a former nursing (LVN/LPN) student as well, so I know that they have the same training that CNAs do since my whole first semester of nursing school clinicals was doing CNA tasks. I do not think she knew I had been a nursing student, so she banked on the fact that I probably would not know what her job description actually was.
