Capone had a house on monteagle Mtn....he used it on his way back and forth from chicago to florida...it is now a restaraunt

You missed Maury County/ Columbia TN. I lived there for a few years in the 80s. The "Mob" was still running it

Capone use to come to Johnson City, Tennessee  to buy moonshine for Chicago bars.  He would stay at the Windsor Hotel which is called the John Sevier today.

My dad bootlegged for my great uncle from Townsend to The Mound gaseous diffusion plant in Ohio in the early 70's.  We would drive up Carrs creek, load the trunk full of shine on Saturday morning then he would drive to Ohio Sunday night and drop the load off at the guard portal. The guards would sale it to workers leaving the plant at the end of their shift.  He made more money by bootlegging than he did from working at the plant.

I grew up 12 miles from Corinth Ms, and new of the Stateline mob all my life. When I got old enough to drive, whats called old hwy 45 now, bc of the 4 lane. My buddies and me went to some of those old bars on hwy 45, bc they never carded anyone over 5' 5"...lol. All the bars, whore motels, even an old drive-in you could see from the hwy, showing porn movies was all still happening. This was in 1978-80, we didn't know how dangerous a place it was back then. I guess I was around 30yrs old, after it all shutdown and mostly bulldozed, when I found out how bad that strip of hwy was. We thought all we'd heard about the mob running the place was a myth. Till I read the book, The State Line Mob. We never saw any murders, but we did see a lot of fights, was even in a bar fight one night, that turned out kinda bad. We were bleeding, from some cuts and scraps, nothing serious though.
Our football coach in high school told us before one of the games, if we win, he'd take us to Emmers that weekend, everything paid for. That was an old whore house motel named, Sunrise Motel, in Corinth. But we lost, probably a good thing. Mighta got something Ajax wouldn't remove...lol
The old hwy is still there in Mississippi, but ends at the Tn Stateline where it runs into the 4 lane. And all the bars, motels, and drive-in is gone now.
It was a crazy place though, back then.

Athens, TN had the 'Battle of Athens'.

Nashville was controlled by the mob.

The Battle of Athens is still happening in a more subversive way. My brother has been fighting the corruption of the local government and how they use the power of the city to punish citizens as well as business owners. His name is Glenn Whiting and he has a huge story to tell.

Be careful ..here ..just like up north ..all is not what it seems ..dont step on toes

If you'll cut the background music, these videos would be great!

Ray Blanton is also from McNairy County. We know what a crook he was.

I thought that was Harlan County Kentucky or maybe I’m watching the wrong TV show

moonshine in west tennessee moved on the GMand O railroad to Cairo IL. there capone’s men loaded it into trucks and drove it into Chicago.  they loaded the moonshine from west tennessee and north mississippi at the water stop of Medon,  Tennessee , just south of Jackson  TN. I know this because my granddaddy was a train engineer for the GMO railroad which was owned by the Tigrett family of Jackson. IV Tigretts grandson started the Hard Rock Cafes . my grand dad said a couple of empty box cars box cars would be loaded with. moonshine there and off loaded at Cairo because feds were always searching rail cars when they got to Chicago. he said the Tigretts were aware of the operation and were paid as part of it during prohibition . he said that the freight train workers looked the other way and were paid , him included.

I do NOT believe that Sheriff Pusser killed his wife - that's just ridiculous.

The chattanooga sheriff was one of the biggest bootleggers in the country ....his police garage ..built whiskey haulers for years ..that is a fact

CHAT GPT SAYS CLICK BAIT NO TOWN IS UNDER MOB RULE LOL

Q about Al Capone in Johnson City I don’t believe that one is not correct. If you will do a little bit more research, you will find one eagle Tennessee check out the High Point restaurant. That building was Al Capone’s home, and it was the place where tunnels were underground for the whiskey trucks to escape.

Boss Crump, Mayor Daily and Lousianas Long ran the middle of America.

Bufford Pusser was one of the biggest crooks in McNairy County. Like one historian said, the only things the movie and books got right was that his name was Bufford Pusser and he was sheriff of McNairy County.

Terrible place to live. But,if you must, choose West TN. East TN is FULL & we don't need money, votes, jobs or diversity. Thanks for stopping by,please keep heading West.
