Today I’m trying the viral Butterfly Weft method that has been everywhere on social media in 2026. This was my first time ever installing it, so I went into this completely fresh and decided to test it on a mannequin head to see if it really lives up to the hype.

As I started the install, I tried doing it the way I thought made sense, but halfway through I realized I was doing it wrong and had to switch methods as I went. So this video is a real, honest first impression of the Butterfly Weft technique, what I learned during the process, and whether I think this trending method is actually worth trying.

I'm an not a hair stylist but about a week ago I purchased these and had to blindly guide a non hairstylist friend on installing them. We had the same issues you are having. You first thought about sections and the weft riding up on the crown was spot on. Also I had to add an anchor bead to the end because they wanted to flip out. My hair is extremely fine so we also tried to pull the hair through and corn roll the hair inside the weft but I'm fearful of the upcoming move up. I had her waterfall some of the beads on one section as well to stop the slipping which inevitably happens with my baby fine hair. My head feels like an experiment for sure haha. I love the idea of them the process is new. They are definitely undetectable even in a ponytail. They are far from a 15 minute install though. I have another pack I have to add and I'm going to have her try your subsections method for sure they are pretty comfortable as far as painful pulling on install and tugging while wearing but they flip out at the anchor if you don't take a section from the actual hair and bead with the first hole to hold that part to the head also they do buckle around the crown and ride up we had to remove the section and cut the weft and do it in three sections a smaller one at the crown and one on each side. Great video I searched your entire page 2 weeks ago hoping you had a video on this and here it is. Great job thanks for the education. You're an amazing educator even for us non stylists who just wanna look good.

Not a hairstylist here, but a thought. Maybe installing in two sections where they don't "u" in the back. I tend to find anything curving across the back of the head to be uncomfortable, even a genius or hand-tied. Has anyone ever tried installing them split and not across the crown, and also potentially anchoring the ends with a hair not included in the "holes", not in the weft, so it doesn't flip or flap out.

Quick question about the 14:26 mark of your video. When you started showing the next step, we couldn't see anything except your hand and arm. I'd love to see how you pull through the hole and all the work involved. Please check the video next time you post to ensure we can see what you're doing. Your words are really helpful, but it would be great to see the actual process, not just the finished product after you remove your hand from the head.

Sometimes it's better to learn to learn to sew LOL. These gimmicky things always come up and trend for a while, but people always go back to what really works.

I’ve got bald spots from sew ins so i’d avoid this if you also have very fine hair and get global bleach every 4 weeks. Just to let you know.

My hairstylist is highly trained, very great at what she does - it’s not always the stylist, it’s also your hair.

I’m moving back to tape ins, and a lived in blonde.

Instead of doing an exaggerated angle or doing it straight, couldn’t you cut it In half and do the right side first and then the left? Or even cut it as 3 sections (left right and back/middle). I am a very green beginner so I have no idea what I’m talking about.. I’m still learning but with it not being as elastic and bending, my first thought was to cut it in sections
