Thanks to everyone tuning in.

ANCIENT DRAGONBORN: I learned they weren't Dragonborn at pretty much the last possible minute (while listing out all the Dragonborn near the end of Act 2) and made the decision to just leave the mistakes in out of laziness, but also the realization that the mistake says more about the characters than anything I could have written. If they had been utilized better, I doubt an error like that would have survived in my script long.

What if the reason Mercer doesn’t use chillrend is because it’s leveled loot and he found it when he was low level

I love how the Riften Thieves' Guild discuss all their plans directly under the open well in the middle of the town market and they wonder why they have bad luck. Then they hire a mute and things suddenly turn around.

Ten times I have rewatched this video.
Ten times I have woken up to him raging about Skyrim’s magic system.

I love how part about magic slowly goes from calm and collected explanation to "HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE THIS MAGIC SYSTEM SINCE I BEGAN TO PLAY THIS GAME. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION SKILL LEVEL UPS I NEEDED TO GO THROUGH TO FINISH MY MAGIC BUILD. IF I SAID "HATE" EVERY TIME I CASTED ONE OF THE HUNDREDS OF THESE UNINSPIRED, IDENTICAL SPELLS TO PROGRESS EACH OF THESE SKILL LEVELS THAT WOULD'VE NOT BEEN EQUAL TO ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR THIS MAGIC SYSTEM AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. HATE. HATE."
Very valid crashout to be honest.

Killing Astrid was the first thing I tried, and seeing the quest failed text only to be immediately followed by "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" was the most satisfying thing in the game.

Farkas murders the main character in cold blood and walks away slowly while saying: “You look strong. Come to Jorrvaskr and be a companion”
Ah yes, the peak Skyrim experience.

(7:27:27) Todd Howard comparing Cicero to Scrappy-Doo is fucking hilarious considering he's one of the few decently-written characters in a game with a fully-realized and unique personality as well as mannerisms. Literally 90% of the characters in Skyrim don't emote or have body expressions.

"Skyrim replaces the [insert mechanic/system/content here] with a cart ride" pretty much sums up everything I don't like about Skyrim. Nearly every significant quest line is a theme park ride. Its like going to Universal Orlando to do the Harry Potter ride where you put on your little wizard robe and sit down as the cart takes you from place to place, showing you little quick stories and interactions, none of which you have any real impact on nor the ability to alter the outcome. The only real choice you have is whether or not you want to do the ride at all. Once you finish the ride, you think it was a fun enough time, and then the person behind you in the line hops on for the same exact curated experience that you just had. This is how every quest line in Skyrim works. You put on your little wizard hat, or warrior axe, or thief cloak and start doing on rails quests that you have to do a very specific way and then after a couple of hours, you have become the most epic wizard or warrior or thief and get off the ride so that the next player can do exactly what you just did. It doesn't feel like an adventure or an epic story, it feels like a ride.

Honestly, after all these years, I'm waiting for TES VI only because i hope patritian will make that 40-hour sprint review

Watching this immediately after your Fallout 76 retrospective, it becomes clear that "doesn't understand how long 25 years is" is a recurring problem for Bethesda.

Seeing Meridia's Beacon in that Egg Sac had me crying of laughter for a solid 2 minutes

@eollin2097 1 year ago

Around the 5 hour mark the anger and passion he feels around how bad magic is in this game was satisifying, and the only time i've heard him get THAT mad. It felt cathartic

@GhostOfSnuffles 3 years ago

Best part about the Companions quest line is that you can tell off Aela when you first meet her after the giant fight and she'll still invite you to join them anyways.
She's the original Preston Garvey, no matter what you say she still adds the quest to your journal.

I feel my bones trying to escape my skin every time I hear Emil Pagliarulo say “great American novel”

which is often because I constantly watch this video

The hired thugs trying to kill you can lead to some unintentional silliness. My first encounter with them was leaving Solitude. I was very surprised and it was a tough fight because I was on the highest difficulty (before a patch added a newer highest difficulty).

I then read the contract and learned it was the innkeeper I had stayed with. I stole some small consumable (I think a potion?) from my room. I had basically done the equivalent of not paying for those overpriced snacks that some hotels offer, and the innkeep responded with attempted murder.

I feel like Necromancy should function like this.

You go up to a corpse with the spell equipped, use it on the corpse and then a portion of your total magicka is blacked out and used to maintain that reanimation until it either dies or is dismissed. The limits being you need better spells for more powerful corpses and the total number of reanimated corpses being determined by your total magicka.

Perks can increase efficiency letting you raise more and allow you to buff them in basic and unique ways, choose to make certain troops better at certain roles like tanks or dps, make them suicide bombers that charge enemies, maybe allow you to store corpses in gems ad scrolls to summon later.

@yari4046 3 years ago

it's crazy how urag is like one of the most memorable characters from skyrim simply because "the arcaneum might as well be my own little plane of oblivion" is just such a character establishing line

@tsunderemerc1138 2 years ago

Companions: "Its so fucked up how Kodlak can't go to Sovengarde because of his beast blood"

Also Companions: "Become a werewolf or leave"

"there are no priests of nocturnal"
"what if the other priests find out we're not really priests?"
accidentally setting up a hilarious situation where every priest of nocturnal is afraid that the other priests will find out they're not really a priest of nocturnal
