Always the way Graham, a hopefully straight forward job turns into a night mare. As you know I am DC so sound is not an option for me, I have three class 419, one in NSE, one in grey and blue and one in Royal Mail red. Thanks for sharing regards and best wishes Barry. 🤔👍
Just don't see the advantages of sound in electric locos, I found putting a second decoder in my TfW set of 67 & DVT a waste of time, the DVT doesn't make much noise & on random ( f28) make some strange noises when parked, it also needed a stay alive, so after a few weeks I removed it, It had better use in something else, which makes the profile reprogramming a good feature on the hm7000 even if there basic sound files, maybe they will improve them, Love the detail on Ur layout 👍
Good video... Yeah all profiles are not the same. I installed a couple last week (26 July 25, a class 31 and a 4F) and the wait was the 40 minute average. Maybe there just isnt much to hear from the 3rd rail electrics
The sound file of a 423 4 VEP is nothing like that of a class 419 MLV, the sound file for the 423 is utter rubbish - it may sound daft but 423s 4 VEPs were built 1963, and Class 419 MLVs were built in 1958, they sound totally different from each other, nothing is similar, I was trained , drove and instructed on all SR 400 series rolling stock. Hornbys sound for the 423 is totally fictitious and not even close to the real.thing, in fact, its totally alien in all regards, they havnt even recorded sound from the last surviving 4 VEP at Strawberry Hill, 3417. So please save your money. I'm in no way knocking you, simply drawing to your attention the truth about the 423 sound file. MLVs were deeper, more throaty and unique, no sound comes close other than a real class 419. Remember, the MLVs were restricted to hauling a maximum of 1 bogied vehichle, normally Vacuum braked, or two TTA air braked wagons, they used to work with a TLV on boat trains but rarely worked singly and definitely didn't haul a multitude of vehicles. The 02:30 Margate mail from Ashford used to use an MLV and a vacuum braked full braked bogie vehicle in the 80s, worked on it many times. Keep up the good work.
