The student protests continued on Monday, October 5th, with 400 to 500 schools fully or partially closed, representing up to 13% of high schools in France. To try to resolve the crisis, the government has launched five initiatives and is demanding decisions before the end of the month. A bill aimed at making students pay for damages is to be presented to the Senate. In Paris, around one hundred students were evacuated from a high school after fires broke out at the entrance.

02:00 Farouk, train driver: "I would be proud if my son went to demonstrate. Tomorrow, I will demonstrate. I am calling for a general strike. The government must respond to the demands of high school students."

6:10 Charles Consigny: "Parents should keep their children home and lock the door to avoid this circus. If you say it's just kids who don't want to go to school and others throwing Molotov cocktails, you're already a bit of a fascist. It's a farce!"

9:20 Flora Ghebali: "Parents who can take their children to demonstrations should do so. Social movements all degenerate into violence. I would be proud if my child went to block their high school peacefully."

11:08 Alexandra, at 3216: "I'm keeping my son home. I took the day off. I made him a schedule so he won't be free before 5 p.m. tonight. That way he won't even go out. Well, he's asleep now."
