This as many have said, is the perfect love letter to the original and with all the call backs it draws us into each of the characters causing the emotional swings. Nicely done reaction. 🎉🎉🎉❤

just FYI, that prop plane the Maverick flies at the end of the movie is actually owned by Tom Cruise. he even flew it to and from set everyday while filming Top Gun Maverick.

The way the flying was filmed, the movie stars were in the back seat of F-18/F model fighter jets. There was an innovative set-up of hi def wide angle cameras around them making it look on video as if they were flying the aircraft. Actually there were real U.S. Navy fighter pilots in the front seat flying the aircraft. When you see Maverick"s head from behind flying, it's actually a Navy pilot wearing the maverick helmet. The actors had to go through a sort of fighter pilot boot camp to learn how not to black out during the violent maneuvers that the Navy pilots were putting them through. The training was extensive. The flying and effects of G forces on the actors faces was all real. Except the crashes, low bridges and being shot at by surface to air missiles and enemy aircraft of course. The Navy is only willing to go so far in showcasing it's 40 million dollar aircraft. The shot of Maverick being catapulted off an aircraft carrier was the first time an actor has ever been filmed actually being catapulted off an aircraft carrier. Tom Cruise is just in the back seat going for a ride with a real navy fighter pilot in control from the front seat. Tom did take Jennifer Connelly for a ride in the vintage World War 2 P-51 Mustang fighter plane at the end of the movie. He not only flew that plane, he owns it, along with another private commuter jet he flies himself and passengers to and from locations. He caught the flying bug and got his pilots license after  the first Top Gun movie. Neither Top Gun nor Top Gun Maverick could have been made without the full cooperation and assistance of the U.S. Navy. God bless our veterans past present and future.

1:05:11 - What you two just witnessed that "Sukhoi SU-57 FELON (5th Gen Fighter) has performed, is a Post Stall Maneuver called the "Kvochur Bell." It is a real aerobatic maneuver, created & named after the Russian Test Pilot "Anatoly Kvochur."

He has a pilots licence and owns a P-51. That was him flying that over end credits and Lady Gaga wrote and performed the song.

Penny Benjamin mentioned in 1st movie

to answer your question, the jet playing the Maverick test pilots at the beginning of the movie is thSR-72 Dark Star. it is a real world military jet that is the successor to the SR-71 Blackbird (now retired according to public record, but actually still seen in operation in recent years). the Dark Star actually remains very highly classified, so it's total cost is not yet confirmed; however, military analysts estimate that each one is between 1 and 2 billion dollars (with no information available on how many they plan to develop and deploy).

50:24 The RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) was updated to WSO AKA "Wizzo" (Weapons Systems Officer) after the rear seat role was changed when the F-14 was retired, WSO was adopted when the F/A-18D Hornet and eventually the F/A-18F Super Hornet were adopted.

"Captain? Still?"  A Corporal in the Marines, one of my LCpls went off on a deployment....when he returned he was my Sergeant Lol.   He had been meritoriously promoted twice.

There is a behind the scenes short about the cast operating cameras in the backseat while qualified pilots flew. Was shot to make it look like it was them. Really good documentary, worth checking out.

The 'push-ups' scene with The Who's 'Wont Get Fooled Again'  which is the theme to Bruckheimer's 'CSI: Miami'  Liking the tie in, I am.

This movie kicked so much ass!!!
I am glad you guys popped it on to watch.  So worth it!  It had everything that the first movie had, but dialed up and made you totally invested in the characters!
RIP Val Kilmer! You are, and always will be missed!

If you like this sort of film,  here is a good one to watch.  The pilot episode of "Baa Baa Black Sheep"  with Robert Conrad.  Its old, from the mid 1970s,  but its a true story about one of the most decorated Marine Corps pilots and his squadron in WWII.  It has some funny moments like this one.  I'm going to bet that Maverick was based off of Major Greg "Pappy" Boyington.  He does the same "Trick" that Maverick used when communicating.  LOL

To think this was made 36 years after the Original Top Gun, and Tom Cruise still looks super fit in this, who wouldn't want to look as fit as this guy in their 50's? Brilliant sequal, just goes to show, that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

TG Maverick, Aliens, Terminator 2 are the 3 best sequels of all time! Another great reaction! 🌴🌴👍

Hey guys always happy to see you and love your reaction to Top Gun Maverick. It's one's everyone's favorite.. RIP Val Kilmer also Batman😢
You gotta check out Tom Cruise's mission impossible movies.

Also I'm hoping to you guys will  C motor combat 1 2021 and mortal kombat 2 2026🥷🏿⛓🪝🔥
Even masters of the universe 👱🏼💪🗡⚡☠ I have the power!!

Even though Tom Cruise has his own fighter jet, civilians cannot fly military aircraft.  Only military personnel have clearance to do so.  They flew in the back seat of a a two seat F18

Tom Cruise and the other actors flew in the jets but we're back seats. Tom Cruise is a pilot he is actually flying the plane at the end.

5 minutes ago. Think earliest I ever been.
