Let's see if the 8HP ZF gearbox and the M57 BMW engine can handle a tonne of miles in a short space of time, and lets see if we can not break down hahaha.

Hahaha... this is exactly what happened to me after finishing my conversion and deciding to take it to the Okavango Delta (I live in Botswana 🇧🇼).... I finished my conversion in Feb 2024 and a month later I was heading off to the Okavango Delta with my then girlfriend (now wife). The first leg of the journey which we calculated would take 8hrs, took us 20hrs because 100km into the trip, the gearbox went into limp mode(mine is an M57n with a 6hp26)... I eventually found a hack for the gearbox and few hours later there was smoke and the smell of burning plastic in the dash area, a wire had shorted. 😂 In the end we went on to complete a 3500km trip, the wife ticked off a big bucket list item (a safari in the Okavango Delta)!! It's the trip that solidified out relationship and now we're hitched...🤣🤣🤣

That ferry's the only manually operated turntable ferry in the world, worth the trip! Awesome white-tailed eagle sighting too. Also enjoying this vid whilst I wait patiently for Saturday when I go pick up a Disco 2 Td5... Wanted one since I was a kid!

Dinosaurs are cool AF, I've got cars and fast bikes now I'm old and still get my rc cars out most days! Its good to keep in touch with your childhood joys, keeps you young 🤣

90% of the problems in old Defenders are caused by a bad earth. I lost the indicators due to a bad earth, within 10 minutes of buying it ! Also, Scotland has some cracking gin distilleries if you don't like whisky. Top tip though, don't go into the shop after sampling gins for over an hour. We spent quite a lot 🤣 Luckily we had a friend who lives locally doing the driving.

First few months after my M57 defender got up and running I had a bunch of niggly Land Rover break downs/faults, which were all super frustrating,
Then, had a bunch of "oh no. what have I done!" BMW issues!
Once sorted, it's so awesome, the problems are quickly forgiven

Ofc the original Landrover part breaks down and not all the work you just did😂 What a trip! Nothing like fixing your car in a fancy hotel parking lot. I was hoping to see Allies pictures the whole time, thank you for including them, they are stunning.
