You missed that Arthur Bostrum speaks French fluently, making the joke even funnier in the show.

As an American who loved watching British comedy on PBS, I have to say, "Allo Allo" is the absolute best. I loved this show. Great characters, great stories, and great quotable lines.

Sam Kelly didn’t “go on to star in porridge”. Porridge was many years BEFORE allo allo

I loved Allo Allo. I was living in Paris when this was airing in the UK, long before the internet. I used to ask my mother to tape it for me on VHS tapes and she would send them to me. One of the best British comedies ever.

I remember Gorden Kaye's near fatal accident in 1990.
It was all over the news, and it horrified like half the world...
We were all hoping he'd survive and recover.
René was too precious to loose !

Allo Allo takes me back to evenings when the family was together, nobody was staring at a phone, and a good laugh could brighten an entire week. Seeing the cast today felt like finding an old photograph tucked away in a drawer.
