A young man goes to a party against his mother’s advice.

Mother warns son to avoid wild parties.

If you missed the 70s you have NO idea......

Not once have I heard the song the way you have. I hear his mother telling him parties in the 70's are wild and she didn't want him involved.

Mama: Don't go to that party. Bad things there.
Son: Mama was right. This place is crazy .

Finally, it's  not what your thinking, mamma is his mother.

your take never occurred to me honestly. its just about a guy living a sheltered life going to a wild ass party despite his mama"s warnings.

LOVE Three Dog Night! This song is about what it says….crazy party (70’s) and his Mama told him not to go….there was drinking & drugs….you have to remember it was the 70’s and things were still kind of innocent as compared to today!

The name Three Dog Night comes from in Alaska when it's cold you sleep with a dog in your bed to keep warm. If it really cold you sleep with two dogs. If it really really cold you sleep with three dogs.

I've heard this song more than a hundred times. I never considered the meaning that you expressed. Wow, you do have a dirty mind.😂😂😂

Three Dog Night has so many hits.  Joy to the World, Never Been to Spain, One is the loneliest number, Shambala, etc....

It's about a wild party that his mama told him not to go to, but he went anyway. Lol😅

I just watched the reaction again and am still surprised by what he thought the meaning behind the lyrics is. Wow. Gutter mind, big time.

You are the only person that I’ve ever heard put that twist on this song.

Three Dog Night was and still is one of my all-time favorite groups!   Looooove this song for sure!! ❤

Three dog night is a cold one, so cold you need three  dogs to stay warm.

I am 70 years old and I never looked at this song the way you do. until, i listened to it with your eyes.

Damn BP!  It amazes me for someone so into lyrics that you often get the meaning of the lyrics so SUPER wrong--lol!

Three Dog Night is a reference to old sheep herders back in the day, it is referencing how many dogs the herders needed to stay warm overnight

Simple meaning. Listen to Mama.

I can barely remember parties like this. Good times.
