One problem I have is aı have a very hard time transcribing sax and trumpet solos. The things I hear ate far from what is being played

Bravo - you really are the Best, that's fer-sher ! Your advice is very well taken & much appreciated.
However - "Reality Check" :

Wifey (in Curlers, laying on the sofa munchin' on Bon-Bons, binge-watching Soap-Operas etc) hollers into your Practice room :
"Oh, Sugar-Pie ....while yer in that room workin' on yer strict "World-Class Jazz Guitarist" regimen, I need to remind you of a few things" :
1. Garbage needs takin' out.
2. Dog needs walkin' & picked-up after.
3 Lawn needs Mowin'.
4.Kids need help with their Homework.
5. Dishes need Washin'..
6.Throw my Clothes in the Dryer for me.
7. Hot Pockets are thawin' out for you on the counter.
8. Vacuum the rug, cause I can't seem to get my Fat Ass off the couch today & do it.
9. Toilet down the hall is clogged.
10. Please get me some more Bon-Bons at the store after work.
11. Remember to swing by Circle K & pick me up another one of those Strawberry Super-Slurpies for me - yah Hear ?
12. Oh, & keep up the good work in there - Yer startin' to sound reel "Jazzy", but do you know any "Ronnie Milsap" ?

Yes, but be careful with the limiting term realistic goals. Jazz study remains partly elusive at the level of ability preconditions. It's important to not underestimate how far a person can go in the near or distant future.
