After years of investing in the Canon RF ecosystem and thousands on native RF glass, I'm returning to using Canon EF lenses.

Yes! Agree wholeheartedly. Old guy here (84) with 58 yrs in still photography. I find that just three top-class lenses serve me extremely well with the R5 C. The EF 35/1.4 L (v.1) is tremendous for journo in school classrooms. The EF 70-200/2.8 L II is breathtaking (a big secret is that on an APS-C body it's magnificent for candids and portraits, really special; also does very well in APS-C mode on the R5 C). Finally, the original 24-105 F/4 L IS "kit lens" is actually world-class glass for journo and events; I've taken some wonderful dance pics with it.

I got into photography 1.5 years ago. I bought a few regular RF lenses and was only happy with the 35 1.8. After watching a few videos like this, I bought a few EF L lenses off of ebay and FB marketplace. I’ve been so happy with them. I sold some of the RF glass, and only kept a couple for backup. Now I live by the EF 35 & 85 1.4 L’s and the 135 2 L. I use them on my R6 mii with a regular adapter.

I am using all my EF L lenses with an adapter on my R6 MKII, I have a total of 6 EF L lenses. No issue, works great, and you really cannot see any issues in using the EF to RF adapter. I do have one RF lens, the nifty fifty.
Since I also have the 1DS MKII and 5D MKII, I will not get rid of any of my EF lenses in any hurry!

I recently bought the 16-35 f2.8L mark ii on mpb for 226 usd, that’s just a crazy price. Ef glass is so cheap right now it’s such a bargain

They'll pry my EF 70-200mm mk2 from my cold dead hands :)
I'm on the R6 mk3 but have not replaced any of my old EF lenses, they all still work perfectly.

I picked up an R5 on the used market about a year ago. I already had so much invested in EF glass that I decided to stay that route and avoid RF lenses. I also have quite a collection of older Canon FD manual focus lenses, which I still use but on a Sony A7Riii body with a cheap adapter. They work incredibly well on the Sony sensor...the Sony IBIS is an added benefit.

I still have kept all of my ef lenses because i still keep all my eos film cameras and all my 5 series cameras. i decided to keep everything ive invested in. and i love it! still use them all nice to break up the RF lenses noone can tell the difference. only you.

three reasons i'll never go back to EF: RF 14-35 f4, RF 100-500, RF 70-200 F4. i had the best EF L lenses and i have been a canon shooter for decades, the RF lenses offer greater range and are smaller and lighter and are as sharp or sharper. all my landscape lenses are 77mm, and i use a compact magnetic filter kit. no going back for me

As a person who is just getting started and isn’t charging a lot, this workaround is magnificent! Unless you’re working with world class clientele the client isn’t going to notice these small differences other pros could point out instantly. This is definitely how I’ll be building my kit till I can afford RF glass consistently.

This actually makes sense for film makers. EF glass is beautiful, the drop in ND system is great and the slightly softer look and character of EF lends itself to cinema. I would probably ditch the sigma because you’ll always struggle to color match it with your canon L glass. That said, it might be easier or no problem at all with C-log. I just remember struggling back in the day when i added a sigma to the mix.

I never left the EF lenses I’ve been shooting with an R1 for a year with the Canon VND adapter. Just bought our first 24-70 rf lens because I still have the c300 mark lll so welcome to the party

Have R7 and love it adapted to EF glass along a 7D, 7Dii, 6Dii and keeps it versatile with landscape, garden, airshow and long exposure photography. You make great points and the bottom line is this a hobby or a profession. Mine is hobby for the most part but do love getting the quality that this level produces.
