I walked along Pingjiang Road, an old street remaining in the old town of Suzhou, on a rainy day.
It's a city of water, with a river and cobblestone streets, and rows of houses with white walls.
The layout of the streets remains almost unchanged from the map carved into stone 800 years ago.
In this old city, I repeatedly encountered young women dressed in traditional Hanfu clothing.
Even on a rainy day, their hair was beautifully styled, and they were having their pictures taken on bridges and in alleys with photographers.
Currently in China, "travel photography," where travelers rent traditional clothing for photo shoots, is very popular.
We also introduce:
The Quanjin Guild Hall, built by merchants during the Qing Dynasty, and an old Kunqu opera stage
A stone well that has been in use for hundreds of years
Pingtan, a traditional Suzhou performing art featuring the sanxian, said to be the root of the shamisen
The daily lives of people today, preserved right next to tourist attractions
Ou Garden, a garden for couples that we couldn't visit this time, and a bookstore where you can send letters to your future self
Please join us for a leisurely stroll along the rainy Pingjiang Road.
Our days in Suzhou will continue for a while longer.
We would be delighted if you would support us by subscribing to our channel and becoming a member.
