Inaugurated in January 2016 as one of the great symbols of modernity in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games, the Tim Maia Bike Path promised to integrate 35 kilometers of continuous coastline, from Leme to Pontal. However, just three months after its inauguration, a tragedy on the coast of Avenida Niemeyer exposed serious engineering flaws and shocked the city. In this mini-documentary from Memória Carioca, we investigate the behind-the-scenes story and 10-year history of this emblematic project: from the 2016 disaster caused by the impact of the waves to the "flying effect" of the bridge decks; the sequence of four collapses caused by storm surges and heavy rains; the abandonment with thefts of guardrails and robberies; and the current impasse between the demolition request and the emergency protocols of COR-Rio!
