Takamatsu Bonsai-no-Sato is home to around 10,000 bonsai, including pines, shimpaku junipers, and deciduous species. Before the festival, we explored the site in search of hidden gems, from affordable starter material to trees that have been carefully developed over many years.

When choosing a bonsai, price is only one factor. Look at the age and character of the trunk, the branch structure, the wiring, and how much potential remains for you to develop the tree yourself.

If you are a beginner, start by finding a tree that genuinely makes you want to grow and care for it.

The Takamatsu Bonsai-no-Sato Festival will be held on October 24 and 25.
