Nice IMP! Brings back memories. My first car was a pea green  Sunbeam IMP I bought near Detroit Michigan in 1972 when I was a high school senior. The engine was in two bushel baskets. My first engine build & boy was it a smoker!  I had two large home stereo speakers in the back seat & the 8 track blasting Black Sabbath Paranoid while spraying mosquitos! . Drove for awhile  & traded for a Fiat 850 spyder.

My gran used to own a Hillman Imp until the 1980s but it was actually a Singer Chamois.

The Imps engine was derived from a Fire Pump engine designed by Coventry Climax. This is not something you here much these days.
My mum had a new one in the 60s, it was a great car mostly. It did break down a few times and I remember as a kid sticking a circular red sticker on the dash, which said PANIC BUTTON in white letters.
Nevertheless when we moved to NZ in 71 from Sydney, dad shipped it and his new gold Ford Fairlane. So it must have been a good little car, it helped I guess that he was an engineer in the oil industry.
