Experience the pure sound of an air-cooled Porsche 911 964 Turbo.
Car: 1991 Porsche 911 964 Turbo
Engine: 320HP 3.3L Flat-Six
Color: Polar Silver Metallic
The 964 Turbo came out in the early 1990s and carried on the spirit of the original 911 Turbo. It had a single turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six engine that made it both elegant and aggressive. It was one of the last real analog, air-cooled Porsches from what many consider the brand’s golden era.
Air-cooled engines have a completely different sound and feel. They’re more direct, less quiet, and respond quicker when you hit the gas. Because they’re simple and closely tied to Porsche’s racing history, air-cooled models have become some of the most collectible and emotional Porsches ever made.
In an air-cooled engine, heat escapes through fins on the cylinders and a fan that pushes air over them. This design gives the engine a unique sound, a mix of mechanical whirs and metallic tones that people say feels more alive and raw compared to modern water-cooled engines.
