The Tibet Advocacy Coalition, Students for a Free Tibet, and the Office of Tibet in Switzerland have launched an advocacy campaign during the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, filing a complaint with UN officials over China’s boarding school system for Tibetan children.
In an interview with Dr. Gyal Lo, we discussed the petition submitted to the UN and the impact of the boarding school system on Tibetan children, many of whom are separated from their families, language, culture, and religion.
Dr. Gyal Lo raised serious concerns about the long-term consequences of this policy, including allegations that children are encouraged to report on their parents if they speak against the boarding school system or advocate for the preservation of the Tibetan language.
