Biologist, politician, born on April 26, 1941, in Berlin, graduated from high school in 1959, studied biology from 1959 to 1964, received her diploma in 1964, and received her doctorate in 1978. She was a member of the SPD since October 1989. She served as GDR Minister of Labor and Social Affairs from April to August 1990, and as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs for the State of Brandenburg from 1990 to 1999. She died on November 26, 2001, in Woltersdorf near Berlin.
