I've only recently run across and been watching all of Nom's linguistics lectures. I find this subject absolutely fascinating.

Thank you for the video, but the volume is way too low. Even with my speakers turned all the way up, I can't hear clearly.

Does anyone know if Mr. Chomsky and his partner have seen the recent "TEDtalk", "Birth of a Word", where a doctorate student and his co-workers did an amazing video, audio of 8hours/day for more than 2years and use computer graphics  analyses of the birth of his son's achievements?  Mr. Chomsky always amazes me with his thinking about what is expected and the vastness of what he claims is really not known.

I find it hilarious how these life long students of learning, like Noam Chomsky, are considered to be the great thinkers of the world, and yet with  all of their knowledge, they don't have an answer or solution to any of the myriad of problems facing the world today. They are what we referred to, when I was young, as intelligence asses. People with vast intellect, whose knowledge had absolutely no relevance in the real world.
