We have a Briggs V-Twin cylinder head that has the valve guide movement problem. It had caused a miss and a bent (possibly broken) pushrod. We're gonna drill the head, put a dimple the guide and install a set screw to fix her up and use on a future repair job. Let's see how it goes....

Im kind of curious. Have you ever thought of using liquid steel to fill a hole like that? You could thread it and fill right into the dimple for a NO slip plug that wouldn't need loctite and that stuff is pretty hard. I pulled a vacuum on a compressor line for my jeep air conditioning and applied liquid steel which was drawn into the pinhole and that repair is still holding and its easily been 10 years!
