You just witnessed rock legends honoring rock gods! The Kennedy  center honors are presidential honors to performing arts.  The drummer from Led Zepplin passed and thus ends the band... his Son Jason played his dad's  drums and wore his famous hat.

So beautiful. The fact that the drummer  was the son of their late drummer, wearing his dad's hat, and the choir was wearing bowlers,  was such a sweet and emotional tribute!

Hi Joanne! The gentlemen in the balcony are the members of Led Zeppelin. It was a tribute concert for them.

This is a masterpiece. To get a standing ovation from the band you are honoring is an honor, The drummer is the son of their former drummer that passed away years ago. I am sure Jason's dad would be so very proud!

Robert Plant and John Bonham were more than band mates. They were brothers. When Robert's 5 year old son Karac died that nearly was the end of Led Zeppelin.  John was always there for him. When John died 3 years later in 80 that was it. Jason Bonham was another son to Plant. That's what is so emotional about this video. I will always cry when I watch it ❤🙏

Don't panic. You are only about the 200th reaction channel to get emotional watching this. I think it should be considered pretty normal. It's just outstanding. Maybe the best cover of the 21st century.

The Members of Led Zeppelin called Jason Bonham" The Son of John Bonham" and asked him to come with them to this event. Jason said he was sorry, but he couldn't go because he had a prior engagement. Little did they know it was this Event! Jason had his Dad's hat on and was Playing His Dad's Drums too. That made this Night very special.🥰

Also, the song is 54 years old, released on November 8, 1971. Led Zeppelin was formed in London, England, in 1968. They were the ones with the different-colored ribbons around their neck.

American presidents honor artists (musicians, dancers, actors, singers, rock bands, etc.) at the Kennedy Center for their contributions to the arts. This event was to to honor Led Zeppelin. Prior to Hearts performance, President Obama gave a very touching speech about Led Zeppelin, then they came on stage, shook hands with him, and received the medals they were wearing.  Many of the top rock artists of the day (they appeared on stage at the end) performed Led Zeppelin songs as a tribute to Led Zeppelin, and Heart ended the tribute with this amazing performance of Stairway To Heaven. The drummer was the son of the Led Zeppelin member who passed away years prior to this event.

I come back to this when I want chills....since it first aired...🔥🔥🔥

Robert Plant got teary at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors during Heart's performance of "Stairway to Heaven" primarily due to the overwhelming emotion of seeing his late bandmate John Bonham honored, the powerful tribute by Jason Bonham (John's son)

Ann Wilson’s powerful vocals and Nancy Wilson’s guitar work honored the song’s spirit while giving it a fresh, respectful reinterpretation. Key emotional touches included the orchestra’s rich depth, the Joyful Noise choir’s spiritual lift, Jason Bonham’s bowler hat nod to his father John Bonham (the only drummer of Led Zeppelin), and the visible emotion of Plant, Page, and Jones.  Robert Plant even shedding tears.

The 3 guys it kept showing were led Zeppelin.Thats who was being honored baby. The drummer was the son of the late drummer John Bonham who passed away in 1980 and caused the band to call it quits.Led Zeppelin is arguably the greatest rock band in history.

Back story Robert invited Jason to sit with them in the honoree's box to represent his late father. Jason said he couldn't make it because he had a gig. they argued about it and Robert was so angry with Jason. Then was shocked and delighted that Jason's gig was actually to be on stage and play his fathers music while wearing his fathers hat. a much better tribute than siting with the band and watching. I also enjoy watching how excited Jimmie was during the performance especially watching the performer do his guitar solo he played every note in his mind. I love this video.

It got me at the end when Jason looks up to his dad.

Stairway to Heaven is a Led Zeppelin song . Worth a listen  !

Now you have to listen to the live version of Led Zeppelin KASHMIR ( Live from celebration day), you won’t be disappointed!

Nobody ever mentions the lead guitarist in this performance What a great job he did.His name is Shane Fonteyn.

🌸 this is a tribute to led Zeppelin because they're being honored. the three men with the rainbow colored things around their necks are the remaining members of led Zeppelin.
(also - Robert Plant was John Bonham's best friend, who was their drummer, who died. John's son ,Jason  , is playing the drums here tonight and Robert is actually Jason's godfather.)

Stairway To Heaven was written by Led Zeppelin, it was on their IV album released in 1971. The 3 remaining members are the members of Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin is the most influential band ever, & this song is still voted by fans the NUMBER ONE SONG! Singer Robert Plant sitting in the middle, wrote these amazing lyrics at age 23, in about 20 minutes. Robert is also the Godfather of his best friends son Jason Bonham who played the drums here. Sadly the band split up after the passing of their friend & drummer John Bonham, THE GREATEST DRUMMER EVER.
Robert had invited Jason to the Honors, Jason told him he had another commitment, so the band was surprised to see him performing.
I think besides watching the best cover of their most famous song, Robert was emotional missing his best friend John Bonham. Sadly John Bonham passed away on September 25,1980 at age 32, Jason was either 10 or 12 years old. Led Zeppelin are THE GODS OF MUSIC, of several genres, & each done to perfection, well worth an amazing deep dive of all their incredible music. Led Zeppelin’s performance of this song, has brought both men & women to tears. Thank you for your reaction, I hope to see more reactions to THE MIGHTY LED ZEPPELIN PLEASE!
