Stop following trends. Decorate your home how you love.

I don't think the TV-centric living room is going away at all, not for the general public. People are scrolling on their cell phones while they're watching TV. They certainly aren't talking to each other, the trend is definitely away from that. If you only have one living room or den, it's going to have a prominent TV. Designers are used to high end clients who have lots of other rooms and don't need a TV in their "for show" living room.

I always named those matching furniture sets as "The Price is Right" rooms. With Broyhill carpet, of course.

I watch to much TV to have it on the sidelines

Shiplap isn't inherently bad. It's like beadboard. It's a legitimate design choice for middle class coastal cottages, lake houses, or summer camp style. But that's where it needs to stay.

I am watching you on 100 inches… tv centric is NEVER going away… but I think you know that and this was a clever way to get us to engage… touché

Keep the TV centric room and use that "formal living room" as your "conversational space".

Lol, 5 years from now, they'll tell you how wonderful plain drywall looks.

I love that one hand he acts like trends suck and then spends a whole video talking about chasing trends. Dope.

In the 1950s, my parents got a matched set of wood furniture that included a coffee table, two end tables, a round side table, and a desk. Fortunately, they were good quality pieces and some are still in use although they have been dispersed among various family members. Growing up, I didn't think it was odd, but I don't think anyone would make that choice today.

Best AI EVER1. The mispronunciation of ‘finial’ gave it away.

I think you’re on point with everything but the tv wall. Men will always need a space to enjoy their sports comfortably. Just because the furniture gives preference to the tv doesn’t mean you still can’t have it off and angle yourself to focus on your guests to talk. Plus, when we are in the talking mood, we primarily congregate in the kitchen where it’s easier to snack! 👍🏻

When are people going to catch on that these fads are designed to remove your money from your wallet?

@Dameon-DLE 3 months ago

Any designer telling you not to be comfortable in your home if you and your family like to watch TV should be ignored. Half these trend donts sound like they are from pretentious people 😂😂😂

@donnadavis8917 3 months ago

Matchy matchy is so unimaginative. Like hotel rooms.

I never decorated based on a trend. I buy what i like. If you are renting or don’t plan to sell your home, decorate to your heart’s content and don’t let trends or outside opinions dictate your spaces. Your home is yours! The only opinion that matters in your space is yours! ❤

I just finished painting. I'm 66 and don't want to repaint AGAIN in a few years. I painted swiss coffee everywhere! It's sort of color drenching but it's really lazy because it's easier all one color and at my age, I'm all about THAT. 😂
