In this episode, I take you inside one of Thailand’s biggest exotic plant shows to explore some of the most fascinating aroids currently making waves in the collector market.
From incredible Monstera mutations and variegates to spectacular Anthurium hybrids, Philodendrons, Alocasias and Thaumatophyllum, there is so much to see—and some of these plants come with seriously surprising price tags!
I’m joined by Jan from Sydney Plant Guy and Kaylee as we explore the show, discuss the plants that caught our attention, and share our thoughts on what might be the next big trends in the exotic plant world.
🌱 In this episode:• Rare and unusual Monstera cultivars• Monstera 'Ice Age', 'Yin Yang', 'Slytherin', 'Godzilla' and more• New Anthurium hybrids and mutations• Variegated Anthuriums and Philodendrons• Variegated Alocasia and unusual species• Thaumatophyllum cultivars• Plants that are becoming more affordable through tissue culture• Crazy mutations and sculptural forms• Exotic plant prices in Thailand• Interesting hybrids and new cultivars from Thailand, Indonesia, China and beyond• A look at what collectors and breeders are chasing next
One of the most interesting things about this show is seeing how quickly the exotic plant market changes. Plants that were once extremely expensive are becoming accessible, while breeders are constantly searching for the next unusual mutation, hybrid or variegation.
And of course, there are plenty of plants that went straight onto my wishlist! 😂
