What is the worst financial decisions you’ve made?

There are valid reasons to pay someone to cut your grass:  vacation, age, demanding job, high income.  But paying for it because you don't want to "look poor"  is just STUPID!

I was a severe alcoholic for a solid decade. As you would imagine I also made horrible financial decisions during that decade. I am nearly 1 year sober and so far I have paid off all of my debt with the exception of about $5k I owe on my car. My credit has gone from about 540 to now 680 after quitting drinking. I met a woman and now we are having a baby so I can honestly say my life is great right now. Just wanted to share my story because most people in real life don't want to hear about this stuff lol.

Wow. $19K for a table! These “friends” would be dead to me.

I will NEVER regret choosing the school that gave me almost a free ride, instead of more prestigious schools that I would have had to take out loans for. Having no student loan debt opened up so many possibilities for me after I graduated.

It's a rule for me that I don't lend money I don't intend to lose. I once sold a car to somebody in my family for a total bargain price. They literally blew up the car within a month then refused to pay me. I forgave that, but I don't forget.

I own a lawncare service,  35 dollars is not profitable if you are licensed, insured,  and paying taxes.

I'm 62 and mow my lawn, plow my driveway and sidewalk, rake my leaves, trim my trees, clean my gutters, maintain my house, maintain my car, and do my own shopping and cooking. And I will continue to do so as long as I am physically able. I don't give a crap about my image. I'll call someone when I need a new roof.

They say” a smart man learns from his own mistakes but a wise man learns from others.”☝🏾😌 Thanks for the video.

Yeah it cost $35 to get your grass cut...in like 2005.

As someone who uses a lawn service, your lawn doesn't just look pretty if you get it professionally cut. You need to water it, fertilize it, aerate it, and irrigate it. All of which is expensive. Judging someone for cutting their own lawn is the stupidest "flex" ever.

I have a friend who spent over 6,000 at disney on our trip. Most of which was stuffed animals. She justified it by saying most of what she bought were gifts for friends and family.
Then she makes fun of me for being 'cheap' and not buying stuff I don't need.

I literally just came in from mowing my lawn. If I paid someone to mow my lawn it would cost about $800-$1200 over the spring and summer months where I live. It's wild this guy is ridiculing people for not WASTING money over something I'm perfectly capable of doing.

I used to be a spender.  Couldn't pay my bills.  One late night I watched a Suze Orman for the first time.  It was like she hit me in the head with a brick.  Everything changed and I started reading books, watching financial advisors.  It was a rough 5-7 years, but I was able to pay off the house and credit cards and installment/vehicle loans.   Been debt free for several years now.  Retired and have a nice savings & IRA accounts.  I can help someone who is in need without worrying abour being paid back.  Because I know what it is like to be broke and it ain't fun.  It scares me, actually.

Take it from a 55 year old that had to retire early due to heart problems, Do not go into your 40's without a backup financial plan, I had to retire at 45 it took me 5 years to get disability , with that i receive 1100 a month and 85 as month on snap as the waiting list for housing is 10 years minimum here i have been with my parents since i was 45 i recently buried my mother and have one parent left, when he goes i am by myself with nowhere to go. DO not get yourself into my position the only saving grace my heart is so bad i may not live to 60

What about enjoying frugality and getting a kick out of it?  It's all about mind-set.  If you think "poor me!", you'll be miserable.  But if you think "HAHA!  I just saved 10 bucks" and treat it like a competition, it can be fun.

The 19 grand dude is a sucker.. none of those were ever his friends

Here in Missouri I get my grass cut for $35 a pop and I don't regret it at all. Why because I'm 77 years old and it's 94 degrees out there! It isn't frugal if it kills you 🙂

$1200 on Drake tickets, that's not even worth a $12 ticket.

Whenever you give money to friends or family you have to assume you'll never see it again

for the 9th video, being frugal shouldn't require a huge amount of mental struggle. Being frugal shouldn't be the same as stingy.

Frugal should mean buying exactly what you need that suits the goal. Like, if you spend $1000 on a monitor, but you spend most of your time using the computer, then that would be a good purchase. Compared to buying a $1000 suit that you wear once a year.
