It is also worth highlighting the emergence of one of today’s great actors, Jack O’Connell, as well as the extraordinary, profound, and harrowing development of Stephen Graham’s character. The most chilling thing about This Is England is realizing that its warning didn’t stay confined to 1983. On the contrary: it remains a living, pulsing reality. Perhaps today, more than ever, it is impossible to watch this film without recognizing just how dangerous hate speech, extremist rhetoric, and the human need to belong can be. It begins as a story of friendship and youth and ends as a punch in the gut. A brilliant film.

Man I was wondering why there were no video essays on this movie. Well done 👍

I miss these types of movies man, movies about growing up in a country but show the "worst" part and not the pretty parts. Romper Stomper, American History X (Ironically white stories about living on the fringe turns into a nazi movie) but it's also great that they show WHY people join and WHY and HOW people grow up and leave such groups!

I scroll through YT endlessly sometimes, unsure of what I need or want.
Content like this keeps me coming back and makes me question most of my other click choices.
Your duration is great, easy to watch, good use of film content, but most of all, your analysis is brilliant, both emotionally and technically. I didn't want it to end.
A film I thought I knew well, but you've really added to my enjoyment and understanding.
Cheers.
PS Any chance of a cat video so you can fulfil all my YT needs?!

I found the premise great but ultimately found the film a little pretentious and hollow. It didn't really tie up its loose ends to me. Great acting and design though!

No, he turned on England. Throwing your flag away; the flag your dad died for is ridiculous and something no Englishmen would ever do. Poor choice.
