14 hours in economy feels a lot easier when you're getting 5% back 🤷 https://chime.com/schlatt

as an OG fan from 2019, this is exactly the type of content ive been WAITING for schlatt to do. He probably wont see this but this is definitely the type of content he's incredible at creating, keep it up big guy!

if this is the only genre of video schlatt ever wants to make again, I'm all for it. Beautiful video, lovely monologue at the end.

8:30 schlatt casually not mentioning he made an $18,000 charity donation on the cyclathon

Sometimes I forget Schlatt is an actual ceo of a company and can afford to go to Japan 80 times, in my mind he's still making react videos to make ends meet

A few notes on this vid: It was filmed entirely on my Sony DCR-SX85, a really crappy old digital camcorder. Something about the way it looks makes me very happy. I took the pics on my Sony a1 II and a Sigma 35mm F1.2 lens. I really like the dichotomy of using these two in the vlog and I think the photo at 15:09 is one of the best ones I've ever taken.

I included some of my favorite Japanese songs in here, too. All of them are in the description. These are all very copyrighted, and as such, the video will make no money (thank you Chime). I find this preferable to the generic lo-fi music you hear in every single vlog these days -- it's a privilege to not have to go that route. Hopefully I put you on to a song or two!

Thanks for watching & sticking with me for these 7+ years.

who remembers when this was called 'happy'?

Using an older camera gives this such a nice feel. Nostalgic and sincere

Alternate title: massive weeb is rich enough for people not to notice he’s a weeb

8:14 this shot inspired me to finally write something I have been putting off for a while. I did it, and I am really proud of it.

I know this will be lost in a sea of "9/11" and "rent due" comments but I'm genuinely happy for you man. I've been watching since A Tribue to Minecraft and the OpenTTD streams so it's been cool to see your growth over these years. You've always been a huge inspiration for me, and I hope your new goals in life take you where you want to be.

In all seriousness, I teared up at the end. Not because you may stop posting but because you found happiness and are genuinely improving on yourself. You have changed my current outlook on life. I wish you the best Schlatt. Sincerely, a fan from as far back as 2019.

I was literally chatting about you with my mate yesterday; we were at a bar talking about content creators, and I mentioned how I hoped you were able to escape the "haha 9/11 funny man" persona a lot of people keep holding to you despite your clear attempts to be more than that. I hoped that you were able to create the content you previously mentioned enjoying (video essays, vlogging) without feeling the need to make consistent react videos to "stay relevant" or "keep with the trends". I even said I believed at some point you were likely gonna try and retire to Japan because you seemed most happy whenever you're there.

Low and behold a day later this video pops up, showing you genuinely enjoying life and being at a place where you can just focusing on living life instead of surviving it.

I'm happy for ya man; it's nice to see you so free and at peace :)

Thanks for another Japan video Mr. Schlagetti & meatballs!

Good to see Schlatt support small content creators.

@ChikoDrinx 2 months ago

This is another comment that will likely get buried, but on the off chance you see this, here goes:

When you announced your retirement, I felt so disappointed knowing I wouldn’t be seeing as much content from my favorite creator, but this video finally snapped me out of the social media mindset. I genuinely just feel so happy for you and that you’re able to enjoy trips and projects like this.

This video also made me reflect on just how much influence you’ve had on my life. You even inspired me to write my senior thesis on The Importance of Media Physicality and Intent. I now have my own collection of LPs and a record player, along with a Lomo Smena 8M film camera (crappy, I know) and a Sony CCD-TR400 Handycam. Capturing and enjoying life’s moments on something other than a smartphone has undoubtedly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Thank you for all the positive changes you’ve made in my life, whether you realize it or not. I hope this video reminds viewers that the people we watch online have lives worth living beyond the screen, and I’m genuinely happy you’re getting to enjoy yours. No matter what you decide to do next, I wish you nothing but the best.

The small speech schlatt had at the end is nothing but truth, time is never gonna slow down so what you do during your time
on earth matters a lot, do what makes you happy but most importantly take care of yourself!

schlatt ik you prob don't care nor will you ever but genuinely thank you for all that you have given us, i always loved just chilling & watching your vids to cool off

@thomasraaberg8400 2 months ago

The happiness also comes across as a viewer, it’s clear when you make something that you care about.

Of course a tribute to Minecraft comes to mind, but also seeing more recent videos about something that means something to you, the videos definitely feel more natural.
