why do we need a holster? the curve has a pocket clip

This video found me at a “my dog just chewed up my holster” time in my life

Like any firearm skill improving with training, keistering provides the deepest carry option with zero expense spent on holsters. I have comfortably carried a suppressed Mark 23 for the last three years this way.

My beer gut acts as level 3 retention for appendix carry

3:51 Now there's a strategy. Carry two guns, "accidentally" sling the first one toward him, then pull out the second one and shoot him as he goes to pick it up. There's no shot a robber is going to resist the urge to pick up a perfectly good gun off the ground. This must've been what massad ayoob was talking about when he said "if you have a need to carry one gun, you have a need to carry two"

Hop is my favorite gunbunny

I need Hop to go through a real fat phase so the husky audience members can finally get holster reviews catered for them.

1:24 In the Navy I had to help carry a 170+ pound 38V power supply from time to time. It always sucked. I could never get a good grip on anything other than thin pieces of metal that would dig into my hands. One day I got the idea of looping my Blue Alpha 1.5” hybrid belt through it. The belt stayed buckled just fine and allowed me to easily hold onto it while we carried it one deck down and 200 frames aft. Best belt I’ve ever owned.

All those boxes of videos games is such an elder-millennial flex, it's unreal.
youngins will never understand

3:49 Robber walks in with a Hi Point. Hop: Oof, here take mine.

This is an 18 minute ad for DCC.
Not complaining.

Mexican carry a 1911 with the safety off is my preferred method. No holster needed!

Holster company here.

I basically only recommend DCC clips anymore. Too many companies are still pushing plastic clips because they're cheaper but they should really be accommodating the ~$16 material costs into their pricing these days for dual DCC Mod 4 clips. They're the best for stability and load distribution on the belt. Monoblocks are fine as long as the holster is properly blocked for them, otherwise you'll get faster wear and tear on them (lesson learned there a few years ago).

If a company in 2026 is still up-charging for light-bearing models, red dot cuts, and wings, that's a red flag IMO.

If you're carrying a subcompact look for a holster that offers extra material length past the barrel. Research the "Keel Principle" and why that matters.

Tenicor, Henry Holsters, and TXC are good to go. I've heard loads of good things about JM Custom as well, just haven't played around with one yet and the Grey Matter Concepts and Carrey Concealed ones have also been looking solid.

I found the DCC clips absolutely obliterated my belt.  Those Mod 1 clips look like they would address that.

Remember that asking for holster recommendations on Reddit is just an ad for Tenicor.

That is quite the selection of video games you have there Hop.

All the different Mechwarrior titles in particular really warmed the cockles of my heart.

Hop dumb as hell, tossing your gun at the robber is a big Chad power move

as a holster maker myself, just a slight correction. the “wedge” mentioned at 9:51 is actually referred to as a claw or brand name modwing. the wedge is the piece that attaches to the back of the holster pushing the bottom of the holster outward. this is beneficial if you have a stomach and the firearm wants to flop over the top. sounds like hop will soon find out how beneficial a wedge can be.

My prison wallet still has excellent retention. Even after all these years
