When invincible first came out, I worked at a UPS store and my manager looked just like Cecil and acted just like Cecil. He was a chill dude. God rest his soul.
Guys, also keep in mind that Cecil doesn't know there's only 50 Viltrumites left. He still thinks there's billions of them, so getting info from conquest makes a little sense as a last ditch effort to save earth from thousands of Vitrumites invading Earth. In his mind they're already fucked if they can't get some info on a weakness.
Realistically speaking, mark is still carrying the mentality of someone who just graduated highschool. A lot of us remember being very strong in our beliefs until we're truly humbled. Just like at the end of the season. We all know who he cried For
It doesn't take comic spoilers to know that imprisoning Conquest with the same weight (400 tons) Invincible was shown lifting at the beginning of the season will not end well.
5:45 this is a tangent but it’s crazy how good Donald is as a person. He decided to die saving others dozens of times with no idea he was effectively immortal.
Cecil is this show Batman, not Nighwing He is human He is tries to allways be One step ahead, allways prepared He is missunderstood But its is him that the supers look to when all else falls. Because he is the better prepared
It works like this: Everyone is a threat, everyone is a menace, Cecil is on the side of humanity and whatever keeps the planet working and the people alive. If he has to move trillions of money to save Mark's left nut because that will keep the most people alive he will, and if he has to betray Mark and kill all his family to do that he will. Yeah, he's not the good guy, but he's not the bad guy either, that's what Invincible is about: in a world with actual, real superheroes and supervillains a normal guy has to go into the grey morality to keep the public safe. That doesn't mean keeping you or me safe, Cecil would kill everyone who reads this if that means the rest of the population survives too, and it doesn't mean keeping Mark safe either. But Mark is the main character, and we're seeing the action mostly from his side.
i think its more about cecil putting a literal sonic weapon into marks head. I feel like this whole thing wouldnt escalte this much if cecil kept the sonic weapon hidden from mark. Yk and in marker's eyes cecil put a weapon in him. Yk he thinks maybe he can do the same to oliver or smth reasonable thinking. If i was mark i would've forgot that whole "oh you work with criminals" part the moment i learn there is a literal weapon inside my brain.
Mark never even forgave Nolan. Especially when he was going off on him about it. And he only stayed to protect the Thraxans.
Plus, Mark said to Eve that w/ that ringing in his ears as the reanimen were beating the clothes off of him, he thought that he was gonna die, so I'm not surprised that he doesn't wanna work w/ Cecil no more.
Honestly, Cecil is the adult in the room babysitting all the heroes. Both the adult heroes and the youths need him to tell them to behave and keep the eyes on the prize. I would say that he's the most underappreciated character in the series, but that's purely in universe. In the real world, everyone loves this character.
Actually spitting facts. Cecil even calls him out on his hypocrisy like "Wtf do you mean you won't allow these guys a second chance, you're okay with your father who LITERALLY murdered half a city", dude was just saying nothing but the truth
I lowkey agree with cecil...
