A Master’s degree, even a Doctorate, without experience means nothing!  He should have had to prove his qualifications before getting a lead position. Most new graduates DO NOT have such qualifications. Those that do are frequently snatched up by whatever entity gave them the chance to acquire those qualifications. Any company that hands over an important position to a new graduate deserves whatever happens to them, whether that consequence is monetary, official sanctions and/or loss of reputation.
