I fell ill before recording the voiceover, sorry for the rasp in my voice. Thanks for watching 😎

"Keizer Karelplein, that looks like it'll be a nice spot"

Famous last words.

I think the biggest benefit to the node system is knowing there is a route that is consistently safe, Google etc sometimes gets it very wrong.

We are proude this is a Belgian invention. It transformed tourism and biking in general dramatically.

I'm Dutch and never knew it was this comprehensive. Thanks!

FINALLY someone made a video about the bike network nodes! I love these so, so much. I can plan my trip while I'm out on the road, it's amazing.

The node system is so successful, that there is also a node system for walking, and that is also close to covering the complete country.

It’s hilarious to see Cuijk and Mook being translated into Coke and milk 😂

Small story about the directional arrows painted on the bicycle path at 11:32 Those weren't there before and bike traffic waiting for the traffic lights would often make it impossible to turn right until the light turned green and everybody moved on. They just blocked the bike path. Local authority put the arrows and dividing line in: problem gone. It is a psychological trick, people inherently do not want to cross the line if not necessary.

These nodes are truly great. They excel especially when you want to go relaxed from A to B or for leisure. Like you did in the bid. It is not for commuting. My parents have a cabin close to your halfway point. When I am at the cabin I use the nodes all the time. Mostly I write the numbers on paper and memorise the next few numbers. Flexible and much less involved with your phone.

If you wanna see more of Limburg, there is a famous foot-/cyclepath call the Pieterpad. It goes from Pieterburen in Groningen all the way to the Pietersberg in Limburg.

I love how you love our country. Your videos are fun to watch with the right amount of tongue in cheek humour, so I subscribed. Welkom in Nederland

Glad to hear you'll be back for (south) Limburg. You get the Dutch infrastructure, but a sportive and recreational with glooming hills, stunning views, challenging climbs, wine orchards, limestone quarries houses and vakwerkhuizen. That's where the Dutch go for a cycling holiday themselves.

Even as a Dutch I learned something. Thanks Nic!

Thanks for learning me new stuff about the city I grew up near. Never knew about the naming reason of the ‘nieuwe waalbrug’ as we locals call it.

Me and my wife loved this. She is from Strip S in Eindhoven so bought back memories…. So need this in Penticton BC not the confusion we have with bike paths.

9:50 Connecting coke and milk is what the Dutch do best!

What I like about Nic's videos is how it teaches me about my own country that I never knew or realized. The whole node system seemed to me to be present all my life, but it was only implemented in the late 90s. But maybe because it was never really hard to navigate, because we have "paddestoelen" to guide us (little mushroom-looking things with the distance and direction to the next town(s))

I use the nodes sometimes. They will usually take you on a pleasant scenic route, but not always the shortest one, which is usually a bike path next to a road, so don't use them if you're in a hurry. Nice video, btw. Nijmegen is one of my favourite cities.
