Welcome to Speedwell Travel. My name is Eve and this weekend I am taking the Tallink Silja Symphony ferry across the Baltic Sea from Helsinki to Stockholm. Although I have been in Helsinki before (and loved it) I have never been to Sweden or Stockholm so this was an ideal chance to do a quick recce to see if I want to go back and spend more time in the Swedish capital. These ferries have an unusual design in that it has cabins overlooking a main promenade in the centre of the ship. You can book these cabins at a reduced price and also inside cabins lower down on the ship. I prefer a sea view as I like being in the cabin for long periods when travelling alone. I booked a sea view standard cabin and it was perfect for my needs. There are loads of restaurants to choose from on board. Some are bookable in advance such as the Grand Buffet and the a la carte, and others are just turn up and eat. The prices on board were actually quite reasonable. WiFi is free - amazing! You can book a transfer bus to get you into Stockholm and back again. It will take you to the Bus station just across from Stockholm Central Station. I walked to the Metro and caught a train to the Gamla Stan and wandered around old Stockholm. Impressive.
