In this makeover, I transformed a Barbie Basics You Create Neutral Kit 001 – Mermaid Mold into a unique OOAK Barbie doll.

I completely removed the original hair and created a new wig using heat-resistant Kanekalon hair. I also made the wig cap myself and styled the hair using the hot water method.

For the face repaint, I removed the original paint and created a completely new design using soft pastels, cosmetic highlighter and watercolor pencils. I built the face up gradually with multiple layers of color, highlights and shading to create depth and reshape the features. This time, I also drew the upper eyelashes with a watercolor pencil and finished the eyes and lips with glossy acrylic resin.

For the outfit, I made a handmade dress from stretchy synthetic fabric, with a white mesh petticoat and detachable sleeves. I used the same basic pattern as in my previous dress, but modified the skirt to make it fuller and more voluminous. The entire dress was sewn by hand.
