Description:
Kendra Hilty built a 34-part TikTok saga about falling in love with her psychiatrist. Yes, really. She reframed professional interactions as romantic signals, blurred boundaries, and turned neutral comments into betrayals — all while branding herself as an ADHD coach, yoga instructor, and Trader Joe’s alumni.

In this video, I break down the four-year saga of Kendra Hilty, why parasocial relationships with therapists and coaches are so dangerous, and how TikTok helped amplify the chaos.

6:44 Fun fact: when people found him and his pictures, HE WEAR TURTLE SHELL GLASSES. He meant that he prefers them for HIMSELF.

I feel like she misrepresented the bedroom stuff and the therapist told her to ask the psych not because he’s male but to see if her meds were part of the issue

@hydra70 1 year ago

Absolutely wild that all her examples of him violating her boundaries are "he didn't push back hard enough when I violated his boundaries."

13:25 It's actually highly recommended for psychiatrists to NOT do that, for it may make the situation a lot worse because the patient could possibly snap from perceived abandonment issues and go after the psychiatrist and those close to them.

I have BPD and it lowkey reads (not diagnosing her, you need way more than just having a favorite person to be diagnosed) that the psychiatrist was her favorite person and when the psychiatrist didn't play into her fantasies, she did a complete 180, the black-and-white thinking of "I love you so much, you're my only thing!" and "I hate you so much, I can ruin you." I hope she gets the non-ChatGPT help because crashing out on TikTok isn't the best way to handle a mental health crisis

on a live she admitted that she only directly admitted to the crush on the last session. Prior to that she is mind-reading that he is aware of the crush based on other behavior.

imagine telling this story to someone from a decade ago, they would be absolutely terrified LMAO

Psychiatrists in most cases are NOT supposed to drop clients when there are feelings. This can trigger multiple abandomnent issues and make them worse! They are usually taught to talk about these feelings in a safe and professional space and way.
It could cause bigger harn when someone opens up completely and then gets dropped. It's often seen as a chance to work on these issues.

Tyler you can't say "Henry is a hot name" and not give us the stats on how many Henrys shoot their shot in the next week

@weissel1 1 year ago (edited)

"He let me call him by his first name" is a sign he is into you? If so, then I guess every therapist I have ever seen--male and female--has been in love with me.

i am beyond concerned by the amount of people who perceive the forced sycophancy of ai as friendship and romance

One thing no one has mentioned...yes, losing insurance was a catalyst to stop seeing her psychiatrist...BUT she also said she had to pull the plug (because she knew he wouldn't) in order for them to be together "in 2 years." I FULLY believe she thinks they will be together in a couple of years when he is allowed to be with her. I think this is her way of keeping him in her life....and that he will be hitting her up in the future when he finally can. She is literally giddy watching AI videos of them getting married. She has absolutely not let go of that fantasy. And THAT'S why she stopped seeing him. Because she thinks that's the only way they can eventually be together. And knowing what we know about her, she probably thought losing her insurance was "a sign."

My favorite bit Tyler does in the anti-cooking show is the “why would I do that step? I’m not doing that step!” To IMMEDIATE “oh this turned out wrong and bad and I have no clue why” transition 😂 gets me every time

I hardly use ai. I don’t even trust the ai generated google results. I can hardly imagine falling in love with a robot 😭

My psychiatrist can tell when I've taken a shower. She's seen me many times when I was too depressed to care, and then she follows up with have you left your apartment since we last talked? Like I take out the trash and get my mail. Can you up my anti-anxiety med?
That's my relationship with my real life psychiatrist.

This woman being as viral as she is, is sad and dangerous. I worry about her future as she's suffering from severe delusions I think. She needs help but instead everyone is treating her like a zoo animal.

@gingerspice1788 1 year ago

When she says “he was so smug” after something she does it’s obviously how she felt.

@flightlessfish5 1 year ago

11:55 she actually doxed him herself 😭 I watched the whole series and she gave away his first name. not to mention his city, cultural background, and a bunch of other stuff. im sure we'll see some legal repercussions soon

It’s weird when AI is used in the workplace and you get judged for not using it. Like excuse me for wanting my work product to be authentically my own. I don’t want to be influenced by a search result.

tyler... separating ingredients into diff bowls is often pretty important. specifically for wet and dry ingredients, it will result in a more even mixture when you eventually mix them together. in the case of food coloring, two colors requires two bowls. sorry to inform you of this queen

@k8thegr18 1 year ago

i think another important note about the psychiatrist keeping her as a patient, is that she said she also has abandonment issues, so he can’t as easily just cut her off as a patient because he has a responsibility to not harm her mental health more.
