I got my MacBook Pro m5 two weeks ago and first thought the battery percentage was broken because it refused to go down lol

A Macintosh video sponsored by PC part maker is diabolical.

"I pirated you fair and square, you don't get to advertise to me!"

Legend.

When I buy a mac I just start using it. When I buy a PC I spend 2hrs uninstalling bloatware.

Growing up is realizing that it’s OK to use the OS that you personally prefer.

I love that you already found yourself running out of ram and need to buy a new MacBook... It has begun... 😂

"Vibe coding some slam poetry for his substack". Bravo sir, bravo.

No joke, ever since I bought a MacBook to try out, I went from being a lifelong Windows user and certified Apple hater to spending a majority of my time on my MacBook and installing Linux (CachyOS) on my old Windows laptop. I even bought into the full Apple ecosystem (iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods). Mind you, my desktop PC is a high-performance beast since I'm a video editor, I spent over $5k on it. The only reason I haven't fully switched is sunk cost fallacy and Windows is unfortunately still the best for gaming (for now). If I had money to burn, I'd get myself a high-spec MacBook or Mac Studio and a maxed-out AMD Linux gaming PC and never look back.

my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

For the trackpad you can keep the things selected with one finger and drag with another

Oh, I can actually be very helpful here!  I exclusively edit from an external drive and have no issues.  When I upgraded from an M1 to M5, I realized that I needed to max the RAM, but didn't want to pay for both that and the SSD upgrade.  I picked up a UGREEN 80Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure and threw an 8TB drive in there and take it back and forth between home and the studio.  Totally stable, works perfectly even bringing it back and forth between devices (Macbook Pro at home, Studio at the office).

On that note, never test out a Mac Studio if you like money.  It takes everything you like about your Macbook Pro and makes it 10x better when editing.  I scrubs through a 4k timeline with effects like stabilization and color corrections applied at high quality without proxies and the fans don't even kick.  A truly wild machine!

Also, that fingerprint scanner is the reason why I use Apple's dumpster fire of a keyboard.  And the ability to use the top of the magic mouse as a trackpad (helps scrubbing a timeline when editing) is why I'm stuck using that horribly unergonomic mouse, haha.  As much as I hate them both, I'm so used to them I can't edit without them.

We are all fleeing from Windows. You are just a normal person in this regard.

I used to have trouble dragging files until I accidentally realized there is a light and heavey haptic click. If you press lightly on the trackpad you can feel the light click and if pressed harder there is a second click. Files can be highlighted and dragged via the light click. I hope this helps. It works for me.

Microsoft has been screwing up their users so long with Windows 11 that people are coming to Mac looking for FREEDOM, like, the irony.
