My Ford Capri 2.8 Injection is 40. 🥳🎉

… well, actually it is nearer 41, and that means it qualifies here in the UK as a Historic Vehicle. Now, there are certain benefits to your vehicle’s classification changing from Private Light Goods to Historic - no more MOTs and no more ROAD TAX!! Problem is, your car needs to have an MOT at the point you change its classification… and my Capri’s MOT has expired.

I own a 41 year old Ford Capri Injection, which is immaculate and a show car. I have owned it since Oct 1994, it's sympathetically modified and kicks out 285-290 Bhp and 293 lbs ft of torque. It has never failed an MoT, despite being exempt, I had it MoT'ed last month- sailed through- no advisories. :)

Its great to see your Capri is still looking and sounding fantastic. Every time i see one on the road it reminds me of my childhood when my Dad had Capri's as company cars. Such beautiful looking cars that have never lost their appeal.

I owned a lowish mileage 1978 T Registration Fjord Blue 3.0 Capri Ghia Auto with original books and some Service History sold it with the history, receipts and some MoTs tax discs to a chap at Stafford in the 1990s. I see there was a Registration document change June 2026 and it is currently taxed. I hope it is still in nice condition.

Love the capri and its one of my favourites on the fleet like you i have many happy childhood memories of my uncles capri 2.0GL he bought new in 1983 and still owns now hes busy getting it back on the road now hes retired after a slumber he’s looking forward to enjoying it

We can shake hands about this. My Capri is 41 years old now too. And the same here in the Netherlands, after 40 years it's taxfree and gets the "oldtimer" status. Only difference; the MOT now every 2 years until it gets 50 years. Then it's MOT free. Great job on yours. Enjoy the ride!

Nice to see you back on you tube. My 1983 Capri is tax exempt and mot exempt. Even though it's mot excempt, you still got to maintain it and make sure it's road worthy. I'm down here in Redruth. I've owned my Capri for 36 years.

You can print off a V112 form from the DVLA site. I did it for my 1975 Mk3 Cortina, no problems. Apart from the woman then trying to charge me for 1 years tax! Her co worker then had to help her out, as she didn't seem to understand what I meant by saying "But it's now a Historic vehicle so it's free!" 😆

You don't actually need to MOT it to have it changed to Historic status, as you pointed out it is already MOT exempt. All you need to do is print off the V112 form and take it with you to the Post office. I did two cars this way one the first of April no bother. What I do with my historic cars is put them in for a pre-MOT, that way I can find out anything that needs doing to them. Then can fix them without being forced to do it within the 14 days.

Enjoyed the video, the rear lower quarter panels and rear wings in front of the rear wheels are starting to bubble, will need seeing to sooner rather than later.
