Using the latest digital restoration techniques and, as always, authentic accurate sound, many classic propliners and early jets are brought back to life from long-forgotten colour film.

We start in 1961 with a Trans Atlantic Airways DC4, Royal Air Maroc Constellation and an Alitalia DC7CF. Hard to follow that? How about airside action from the ramp, featuring really close up views of Laker and BUA Britannias?

Plus CL44s of AER, RCAF and Transglobe, Dan Air Ambassadors and DC3, Kingdom of Libya Caravelle, Saber Air DC8, Temple Air and Spantax DC7Cs, Kar Air, Transair and SAM DC6Bs, Balair CV990A, loads of 707s and DC8s and lots more.

From down on the ramp, up on the spectator terraces, and beside the taxiway, there’s no doubt this video captures that golden era once again. Enjoy!

Bought the DVD version that just arrived in Cyprus. Great video. Brought back lots of memories of my childhood spotting days at Gatwick. One memory is of one of the staff in ATC ground control peeling back the fence and taking a few of us into watch the ground controllers at work. Awesome. Like another commentator below I became a BAOD Engineering apprentice and spent my whole working life as an aircraft/helicopter engineer. In those days, hobbies led to careers.

Twice times DC10 from Spantax will be stopover refuelling at VCP airport on the late's 1982...from Spain & Argentina....unforgetable times the oldested VCP👏👏👏👏👏👏🛫🛬

I would go with dad, and be there all day spotting
Dan Air, Spantax BEA,British United .just name a few, a few years later, I became a BOAC Engineering apprentice ..

Fantastic. Lived in Horley and watched the old Gatwick Airport and Gatwick Racecourse merge into the new Gatwick Airport. Recognised all of the aircraft in the video. I even flew in a Dan Air DC3 to Rotterdam. Very noisy!! Pity it wasn't longer.
