Cucurella was phenomenal in this game

"Spain is stunning like no other team ever."

Playing beautiful football with intelligence, class, and respect. They've conceded just one goal so far, it's impossible for football fans not to enjoy watching them. Fully deserved. And From Spain: go England! 🇪🇸🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

23:35 I think this is the key factor: Unless something horrible happens, this is as bad as Spain is going to be. This WC started as the worst case scenario for Spain, with two multiple players injured, including all left wingers, and then Nico Williams re-injured. No Nico, no Pino, etc, that means that teams can flood the right side with Lamine just coming out of injury literally for the tournament, these are his first games after the two month injury.

Spain, touching wood, can only go up from here, because they are playing without some of their best players, and with some other players not even 100%. AND STILL they managed to walk around France like they walked around Austria. Austria had zero shots on goal, France had two, and the one cleared by Cucurella from the very foot of Mbappe was probably the most dangerous, but other than that... They played as perfect against France as one could theoretically play. As much as you can never fully suppress players like Mbappe, Dembele, Olise, etc, Spain surely reached that "theoretical maximum suppression". I don't know how they could have done anymore.

Spain is a testament that football is a teams game. Super stars will give you an edge, but a better, more cohesive team will win most of the times, and then they do they do it decisively, just like today.

I'll save you guys 44 mins of video: yes, it was.

Euro 2022 semis. Olympics Gold medal match. World Cup 2026 semis. Spain own France.

4:25 “French pressing them”

Taylor with the accidental pun 😂

I was 14 for that broncos Seahawks game and I live in Denver and Joe referring to that as “his childhood” made me feel old lol

Athletic Club Bilbao scarf spotted. Automatic upvote!

It seemed that France didn’t have many shots on goal, and when they did it was straight to the goalie. He didn’t have to jump or stretch or anything. He just stood there and caught the ball.

3rd place game is the humiliation lol

Spain beat France in like 80% of their last roughly 10 matches. Spain is a horrible matchup for France. Not sure why France was so hyped as the favorite.

Estos tipos no reconocen cuando un juego se realiza de la manera más pura.

Maybe Spain defend well in transition now precisely bc b4 they didnt. Remember 4 or 6 y ago they had problems with high press and balance horizontally. They crowded the oppo and it left the other side completely open for a quick switch. Now I think they've fixed it.

That said, I think D.D. should have used Mbappe as a decoy to create space for the wingers since Spain swarmed him, trippled up on him when he got that one vertical pass in the first half. That means he should have been sacrificed to create space imo.

Drop back a bit to receive the ball, pass backwards for a la pausa pass, and then either side is open for the cm to release the winger.

The wingers are the best part of this French side, so I just dont get why Didier didn't do this. Spain were so good defensively tho, it may not have worked even if they tried it.

Compared with Spain all the other teams look poor. They haven't lost in the last 35 teams in a row. They beat France in the last two times they played. Spain won the last European Cup. However, no pundits gave them as favourites. What's wrong with everybody underestimating them?

Esa bufanda del athletic ❤⚪️🔴✊️

If Spain win the final, does Unai Simon win both best keeper and best player of the tournament awards.? He didnt need to make many saves in this game, but he had a throughball to Baena, and played as the sweeper keeper too when needed. If not him, who out of Spain is the golden ball winner.? Appreciate Cucurella but Porro seems to score contantly for a fullback. Rodri has been good but not PotT good.

Spain can win anything, and is not even using Bankai yet.

I got the sense that your praise for Spain was a bit forced. Your focus was mostly in the failures of France for the day. Maybe in your mind you needed to justify your earlier predictions?
