Carey likes to play 4 different timings at once. He can do 5. But not with his pants on.

Watching drummers trying to figure out Danny's time signatures is like watching mathematicians trying to figure out complex equations. Also maximum respect for the Tyskie beer mug!

I was today years old when I found out Danny Carey only had 2 arms.

The World in 1920: Invents multiple variations of the microphone stand.
Bartek in 2020: clips microphone to beard

Notice Danny's posture. First of all, amazing posture for a man in his 50's - no rounded shoulders or back. Also, with his constantly relaxed shoulders, chest out and chin up for most of the performance, he has a very authoritarian posture that siginals he is in full control of what he is doing AND super relaxed at the same time...SOOOOOO cool. He literally looks like a king up there.

No backing tracks, no click - everything is live. Laptop is for triggering sounds with the pads, the sounds are samples he’s recorded himself.
But no loops, no backing tracks. All live.
The pads are Mandala pads, with (I believe) 127 different strike points. Crazy stuff.

This man clipped his lav mic to his beard. Metal as FUCK.

After Peart passed, I think Danny became the #1 alive, may he reign

"it's very weird"

That's the most accurate assessment of Tool anyone can come up with.

That's almost a 60 year old man. Learn from the best, that's what he is. If that was easy everyone would do it.

I love how the reaction videos start with optimistic head nodding, progress into shock, awe and admiration and end in complete confusion.

You just witnessed one of the greatest drummers ever. ✌

"Mothafacking shit you know?" - Bartek. Made me laugh so hard

I think I’ve realised why I like these reactions so much, of course the big man, but in the first 5 min, you’ll get a good idea how experienced & knowledgeable these drummers are. This guy doesn’t even speak English as a first language, & got straight to the point with observing a number of things in minutes - no useless fluff. Nice reaction dude! Please do more Tool 🙏 Na zdrowie 🍻

Maynard James Keenan, the lyricist and vocalist, receives the music from the band first and then adds the lyrics and vocal melodies after the fact. In one interview, he was asked if he was ever just in awe of the music he receives from his talented bandmates. His response was something to the effect of, "No, to me it's just a big puzzle I have to figure out." You can see what he means. :)

Danny's drumsticks looks like hummingbirds wings. ✌

I've watched a million reactions to this. I"m not even a drummer! I just play guitar and write music. But for some odd reason you were featured in my recommended videos tonight and I took a chance. Best reaction evar! You have a new subscriber my man.

This is the most respectable Pneuma reaction vid, it is very cool to watch an accomplished metal drummer react to Danny playing Pneuma.

I love watching these reaction videos of this video. All these musicians are blown away, and we are too. Tool is one breath and one word

His posture, focus, and composure is immaculate. It makes the 2 or 3 times he grimaces or smiles hit so hard. Keep in mind, he is like 58 or 59 years old here. I wish more bands would showcase more than just the front man or guitarist like this.
