Nelle prime dichiarazioni le gemelle escludono categoricamente che Alberto fosse il responsabile del delitto. Poi il 24 agosto 2007 Alberto riferisce agli inquirenti che Chiara non aveva un buon rapporto con le cugine e che non voleva che uscissero insieme a loro due. Solo da quel momento le gemelle iniziano a puntare il dito contro Alberto
