LUKE 7:36-39 - A Sinful Woman Washes Jesus Feet - 2BeLikeChrist
Luk 7:36-39 One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

To me, it is insignificant whether this is the same event as the stories given in other Gospel accounts. What matters is the spiritual significance of what Luke is attempting to get across to us. All these stories were given to us for a reason and I can’t see that the reason would be to argue about whether they’re different or the same. Who cares? The point is that there is a spiritual significance and that’s what we look for. As you pointed out, Jesus showed love and not judgment given her sincerely repentant heart. And we all need to go to Jesus with the same attitude.
Thank you again for your study and for sharing it with us. May the Lord be with you and bless you in Jesus’ name!
I may be reading too much into it
