Clara Gaymard has just published Bascules, a remarkable new book. It explores all those moments in our lives when the unexpected occurs, propelling us into the unknown, for better or for worse.
Clara Gaymard recounts these moments when only the present moment matters, the raw emotion where we are completely ourselves, these fragments of our lives that trace new paths.
With Clara Gaymard, we learn to pay attention to the encounters, the signs, the synchronicities that fill our days. There are also the incidents, sometimes accidents, that alter seemingly predetermined destinies.
Clara Gaymard is a free-spirited, powerful woman with many diverse commitments. A mother of a large family and already a grandmother, her career has been remarkable, from her training to become a senior civil servant, before embarking on a leadership role within major international corporations, and then creating Raise, an investment fund that supports generous and meaningful projects, which she discussed with her partner Gonzague de Blignières during her first appearance at Zeteo in 2021 (#97).
We met with her again at the end of 2023. She told us about her solo walk in Italy, along the Camino de Santiago (#245).
This time, we meet her again for a completely different experience, in connection with a book brimming with short stories and tales. With disarming ease, Clara Gaymard slips into the skin of a multitude of characters: little boys and girls, teenagers, middle-aged men and women, or those entering old age.
The stories Clara Gaymard tells are often surprising. They are sometimes sad, sometimes happy. There are love stories, arguments, misunderstandings, reconciliations and healings, and dozens of other life situations in which we all recognize ourselves.
By inviting us to observe, hear, and listen to life in all its twists and turns, Clara Gaymard offers us a way to discover how to free ourselves from our fears, how to trust in life and all the wonders it wants to offer us—no matter what—and above all, to reveal the countless ways to learn to love and to dare to take our chances when the scales begin to tip. --------------
