If this alone is already majestic, imagine how breathtaking the great palaces must have been ... like the Tang Dynasty’s Daming Palace. It’s just unfortunate that many of them were lost to fires or uprisings.

I’m a Polish guy living in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with a Thai wife, and my greatest passion is ancient Chinese art, culture, architecture, and its unique vibe. Yet I had never heard of this city before, despite being surrounded at home by hundreds of Chinese antiques and restoring many of them. Watching a video like that feels like discovering the greatest treasure hidden beneath my floor. What a beautiful and authentic place! Chinese culture and its beauty are unmatched in this world, worthy of standing alongside Egyptian and Greek civilizations—and yet, only Chinese culture remains strong to this day!

Being there in 2009 , I will never forget the night we had a black out when the shops were lit up with candles , giving us the impression that we were back to the 18th century. Sadly based of many westerners impressions, Ping Yao seems to have suffered from disneyization with all the amenities dedicated only for tourism
